Soul And Science are an influential hiphop group from London, England, known for its politically charged lyrics criticism of popular modern music.Their music combines elements of, funk, soul, hip hop, among many others.
Soul And Science formed in 2007. by North London rapper BlessMC and experimental bass player Mark Smith.
Developing his talents as an MC with various London producers BlessMC developed a political, social and cultural consciousness, which infused itself into skilled and poetic rhymes.
Their music is a blend of sampled instruments and drum beats driven by pulsating rythmic bass lines.
Some of Soul And Science's material such as "Kinda Chilly", "Good To Go" display's an intimate understanding of 70s and early 80s funk similar to artists like The Meters, James Brown and Tower of Power, while other tracks such as "Certifiable" show the influence of more modern artists such as Public Enemy and Talib Kweli.
In January 08 Soul And Science let loose their first release entitled "Soul And Science E.P." the CD consisted of 6 tracks and was generally well received by their audience (see albums for review).
