Baby Lemonade
Syd Barrett Lyrics

In the sad town
cold iron hands
clap the party of clowns outside
rain falls in gray far away
please, please, Baby Lemonade

In the evening sun going down
when the earth streams in, in the morning
send a cage through the post
make your name like a ghost
please, please, Baby Lemonade

I'm screaming, I met you this way
you're nice to me like ice
in the clock they sent through a washing machine
come around, make it soon, so alone
please, please, Baby Lemonade

In the sad town
cold iron hands
clap the party of clowns outside
rain falls in gray far away
please, please, Baby Lemonade

In the evening sun going down
when the earth streams in, in the morning
send a cage through the post
make your name like a ghost
please, please, Baby Lemonade

Syd often sang about his problems with various girlfriends in a way that gave the impression that he was a sensitive guy who understood the intricacies of trying to make a relationship work when it's not supposed to. That and all the nuances of relating to others whilst high on acid most of the time. Just love his choice of words to describe what he's thinking about.

@SANDWICH BHOY Thanks for that take on the early days of the association between the Floyd band members. Found this which you might find interesting;

The lyrics of "Gotta Be Crazy" as Nick Kent pointed out reveal a very
great deal of cynicism, particularly the line"gotta keep people buying this
shit",which is tantamount to a sneer at the audience.

SANDWICH BHOY

@Bodhi Apurva his father, max, was an English wordsmith,a Englsh, middle class lyricist/rapper!he might well have picked up on this and there is evidence of David gilmour contributions of lyrics in pink Floyd of "scap" ie"gotta be crazy". "dogs" .the 2 were jamming partners while learning guitar and busked together!

@SANDWICH BHOY Your insight in the meaning behind the lyrics of that song has prompted a response from a long time fan of Barrett.

When Syd sings; Send a cage through the post, make your name like a ghost, he is is saying that he received a cheque in his mail from the other band members who just made his name like an apparition, a shadow of what he used to be, ie the innovative creator of the band who he was ejected from because the other guys couldn't deal with Syd's acid psychosis.

SANDWICH BHOY

I've been listening to this very song for 14 years, the comments get sent through a washing machine, come around, make it soon, every 2 years!

The world will be ready to accept the second solo album by Syd Barrett as an absolute masterpiece in a few years.

@Rational Geographic I consider this music ear candy. Syd was the ultimate pop artist. It’s already a masterpiece. Dominoes, Wolfpack, and this song would make any album a masterpiece alone, and there is much more

Cheesy

Not as good as the madcap laughs still a good album that's what I think
