Moonlight Drive
The Doors Lyrics

Let's swim to the moon, uh-huh
Let's climb through the tide
Penetrate the evenin' that the
City sleeps to hide
Let's swim out tonight, love
It's our turn to try
Parked beside the ocean on our
Moonlight drive

Let's swim to the moon, uh-huh
Let's climb through the tide
Surrender to the waiting worlds
That lap against our side
Nothin' left open and no
Time to decide
We've stepped into a river on our
Moonlight drive

Let's swim to the moon
Let's climb through the tide
You reach your hand to hold me
But I can't be your guide
Easy, I love you as I
Watch you glide
Falling through wet forests on our
Moonlight drive, baby
Moonlight drive

Come on, baby, gonna take a little ride, down
Down by the ocean side, gonna get real close
Get real tight
Baby gonna drown tonight
Goin' down, down, down

my ex-boyfriend used to sing this to me. we were just teenagers then. 20 years went by and we reconnected as friends. June 15th,2015, he died in his sleep of a heroin overdose. one of the last times we hung out we sang it together. No music, just a capella. This song is bittersweet to me now. I don't hear Jim's voice, I hear Nelson's.
Rest in Love my friend. You will always be forever in my heart.

Yes death is so final and memories so unfullfiling. For me the sadness of the memoties opens the flood gate of tears, the hard to handle weeping. All this for my wife of 35+ years. She left the world 5 weeks ago, Morrison 50 + years all of us over next 100 years. Death, like birth, is what all humans have in common. Born to die, what a bitch life is, a cruel joke!

There's something about every Doors song that makes you want to grab a pretend mic and start imitating Jim on stage.. is that just me?

Yes, at the top of my lungs :)

I've really only ever experienced this sensation when listening to Freddie Mercury, Frank Sinatra, or Jim when they're singing
