Composed primarily of transplants to the Seattle area, The Head and the Heart write and play songs that speak to the newness of a fresh start, of the ghosts left behind, of moving forward, all brimming with a soulfulness and hope for a better life than the one we've all been sold.
Stylistically, think a folksy Beatles or The Avett Brothers with a little extra oomph. Catchy piano melodies stand side by side with a tight trio of harmonies, and solid minimalist drums, groovin' bass, and plenty of hand percussion and foot stomps make the live show inspiring and really goddamn fun.
After the band self-released its eponymous debut album in June 2010, the emblematic Seattle label Sub Pop re-released the album. For the Sub Pop version, the song “Sounds like Hallelujah” has been re-recorded, live favorite “Rivers and Roads” has been added, and the album has been re-mastered.
The band's second album "Let's Be Still" was released on October 15, 2013.
The band released their third studio album, "Signs of Light", in September 2016.
The band's fourth album, "Living Mirage", was released in May 2019.
Band member Josiah Johnson released his debut solo album, "Every Feeling On a Loop", in September 2020.

From AZlyrics:
Oh, oh
Oh, oh
A heart-shaped tree standing in between
Human nature, and the nature was seen
Wouldn't you know it now?
Life's got a funny way of showing us how
I see you standing there, listening in the leaves
Looking down, shining on me
Tryna show me how, just takes a while
You should know this by now
Until you learn to love yourself
The door is locked to someone else
I'm just as damaged as you are
Scattered to pieces with you gone
Without the dark, there is no light
But don't give the dust an instant night
I saw the signs you were leaving
But I didn't wanna believe it
This could be so easy
If you could see you through my eyes
I tell myself not to let it go
Hold on to something so beautiful
This could be so easy
If you could see you through my eyes
I tell myself not to let it go
Hold on to something so beautiful
Oh, oh
Oh, oh
It's been a few years since I watched you leave
And there's still so much of you left in me
But as time would show us
No one ever stops the wind from blowing
I was waiting on you
You were waiting on me to
Change into something, baby
Change is a beautiful thing
Until you learn to love yourself
The door is locked to someone else
I'm just as damaged as you are
Scattered to pieces with you gone
Without the dark, there is no light
But don't give the dust an instant night
I saw the signs you were leaving
But I didn't wanna believe it
This could be so easy
If you could see you through my eyes
I tell myself not to let it go
Hold on to something so beautiful
This could be so easy
If you could see you through my eyes
I tell myself not to let it go
Hold on to something so beautiful
If you find some place to rest, then you should take it
Somewhere to replace the time that we have wasted
You should take it, take it
Until you learn to love yourself
The door is locked to someone else
I saw the signs you were leaving
But I didn't wanna believe it
This could be so easy
If you could see you through my eyes
I tell myself not to let it go
Hold on to something so beautiful
This could be so easy
If you could see you through my eyes
I tell myself not to let it go
Hold on to something so beautiful
Oh, oh
Your magic does something to me
Oh, oh
Oh, oh
Oh, oh
The Head and the Heart
“See You Through My Eyes" is a song for anyone that needs to be reminded not to judge themselves. We made a video to try to illustrate stripping away the artificial reality of the every day to get to the core universality of the human species.
