The White Stripes Lyrics

Apple Blossom Hey little apple blossom What seems to be the problem…
Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground Dead leaves and the dirty ground When I know you're not…
I Think I Smell a Rat Oh, I think I smell a rat Oh, I think I…
It's True That We Love One Another Well its true that we love one another I love Jack…
Little Room Well you're in your little room And you're working on someth…
Look Me Over Closely Look me over closely Tell me what you see The lady…
Looking at You Oh yeah you're pretty good looking for a girl But…
Lord Send Me an Angel Send me an angel down Can't spare no angel Will spare you…
Rated X Well if you've been a married woman And things didn't…
St. James Infirmary Blues Oh, Coco Well, folks, I'm going down to St. James Infirmary…
The Same Boy You've Always Known You fell down of course And then you got up of…
The Union Forever It can't be love For there is no true love It can't…

Robyn

on Candy Cane Children

The meaning of this song is basically saying the older you get, the less fun Christmas becomes usually do to adulthood. The lines "don't you know your name?...", probably refers to the adults telling kids to grow up as if they're saying "Do you know how old you are? You're getting too old for this stuff." Probably why he put the lines "nobody knows how to talk to children". Also, he puts the lines "think again" after a thought of one of the kids thinking of wishing to participate in Christmas activities. As if they're thinking "Yeah I probably AM too old for this.." "364 more tears girl" the sadness of getting older. Not participating feels like a missed opportunity and causes even more sadness..
