Hurricane
Thrice Lyrics
In these flowers I found you the truest red that I'd ever seen
Until you cut yourself on their thorns
You winced and I kissed you
I kissed your palms and we both laughed
So unaware of the gathering storm
It's gonna rain
It's gonna rain
Till the levee breaks
And a tidal wave
Of fear and pain
Carries us away
I'll never fade
Into the night
Until nothing else remains
How do we find
Harbor from the hurricane?
No shelter, no shadows, the quiet song of your breath stirs the dark
Your skin like the rose at my hands
And I can't keep from wondering why nothing good
Could ever stay
My faith feels
Like a fist full of sand
It's gonna rain
It's gonna rain
Till the levee breaks
And a tidal wave
Of fear and pain
Carries us away
I'll never fade
Into the night
Until nothing else remains
How do we find
Harbor from the hurricane?
It's gonna rain
It's gonna rain
Till the levee breaks
And a tidal wave
Of fear and pain
Carries us away
I'll never fade
Into the night
Until nothing else remains
How do we find
Harbor from the hurricane?

One last comment:
The Alchemy Index, is ultimately my favorite album, but it's their most ambitious experimental album.
It has 4 EP CDs, each with a different theme
1) Fire - The album where Firebreather came off of. Very heavy, some of their most tonally-heavy stuff they did.
2) Water - Electronica and post-rock sounding stuff. Really chill, but very enveloping to listen to
3) Air - More jangly light sounding indie rock type stuff. A lot of different instrumentation, gets your audio senses tingling though
3) Earth - Very acoustic, folky type songs. Really stripped down, very interesting though.
Even if you're looking for certain stuff, I recommend trying that album for a musical journey. It helped me open up my musical tastes. It also shows how amazing the band is, coming out of punk roots and displaying mixes of different genres and nailing it well.
If you wanted to be chronological about it, you could try listening to Vheissu first, then Alchemy Index. Vheissu shows the start of their music going experimental.

Those flowers I found you
Were the truest red that I’d ever seen
Till you cut yourself on their thorns
You winced and I kissed you
And I kissed your palms and we both laughed
So unaware of the gathering storm
It’s gonna rain, it’s gonna rain
Till the levee breaks
A tidal wave of fear and pain carries us away
Another fight into the night
Until nothing else remains
How do we find harbor from the hurricane?
Now sheltered in shadows
The quiet song of your breath stirs the dark
Your skin like a rose ‘neath my hand
I can’t keep from wondering
Why nothing good can ever stay
Why faith feels like a fistful of sand

I am losing my wife to cancer after years of fighting and this song speaks to my heart. We both knew the gathering storm would come, but doesn't sting any less. Fight after fight, until the end, her breath still stirs the dark.

@Ryan Sutton ... I'm sorry Ryan. I feel that type of loss everyday myself..My Mom and Granny died together in a car hit by a red light runner. My sister was also in the car with just bumps and bruises and lifetime of vertigo. It changed us all..sorry for you and your daughters loss. God Bless our pain.

@Jeff Lancaster Wife passed away in 2019 after 3 years of battling ALS. Our daughter is now 6 and, as I promised, we're living our life to the fullest.

@Ryan Sutton Ryan..I'm late getting here. Its 2022. Mind if I ask you how things are now?

This song since I first heard it, has seemed to give some hope and peace that everything is going to work out..in it's own sweet time.

The song is incredibly moving and brought on chill bumps like never before. My life lacks direction currently but my family and peers haven't given up hope just yet..thank God.

Thrice really has that 90's edge that has been missing from rock for awhile.

I think that's why I love these guys so much. REAL music I have definitely missed so much.

Idk if I would compare or contrast with 90s anything. It's just.. them. Their own sound
