Before she achieved success, she and her family were homeless and living in their van for five months. Later, she went on to compete in Star Search twice and received a perfect score in the junior division both times, at one point winning over Lisa Tucker, a finalist on Season 5 of American Idol. Evans was trained by vocal coach Sal Dupree, who also trained young singer Bianca Ryan, a future Star Search contestant and America's Got Talent winner.
Evans sang "Who Am I?" for the film Tarzan II and its soundtrack. She appeared in the movie Diary of a Mad Black Woman and appeared on its soundtrack as well. She is currently signed to Columbia Records and is working on an album, due November 2006. Tiffany Evans also has a single out called "Who I Am"
