In the United States it was released as "Uriah Heep" with an alternate sleeve artwork and with "Bird Of Prey" instead of "Lucy Blues". The most popular sleeve features David Byron' face covered with cobwebs.
It was not received well by the press, although it is now considered as one of the records that helped to form heavy metal.
In 1996, a remastered edition was released along with 3 bonus tracks. In 2003, Sanctuary released an expanded deluxe edition with 8 bonus tracks and extensive liner notes.
"Very 'eavy... Very 'umble" was recorded by a line-up that consisted of:
David Byron - lead vocals
Ken Hensley - piano, organ, mellotron, slide guitar, vocals
Mick Box - lead & acousticguitar, vocals
Paul Newton - bass guitar, vocals
Nigel Olsson - drums, percussion
Alex Napier - drums (tracks 1-3, 6-8)
Colin Wood - keyboards (Come Away Melinda, Wake Up (Set Your Sights))
Keith Baker - drums (Bird Of Prey)
