It is notable as being the first and only album for which the band had two guitarists; from Rabid Death's Curse onwards, the band would be a trio. The album was recorded in April 2000 at Necromorbus Studio in Stockholm, Sweden and produced by Tore Stjerna. The lyrics reflect their Satanist beliefs, while the title represents "the curse of life, the disease which we are condemned to suffer from until divine punishment comes upon us."

So, a few things: for one, the Self and the I are two different things. The I/ego — which hinders the spirit — is what needs to be destroyed for the Self — which is closer to the spirit — to be liberated. You'll notice lyrics alluding to the Self vs the I throughout their music. I also wrote an analysis on Reddit a while back. Feel free to read.
