She started singing from an early age, and learned the piano from the age of five. At the age of 18 she moved from Hiroshima to Tokyo to participate in more professional musical activities. She writes most of her songs herself. At the age of 22 she won the Grand Prix for original song, from among the applicants of over 1,000 people. Her debut CD was released in 2005.
Kobayashi also performed some of the theme songs for the anime series "Ao no Exorcist," as well as the song "βίος," featured in the original soundtrack of the series "Guilty Crown."
