The Stone
ASHES dIVIDE Lyrics

I've been pushing stones away far from these shores
I pretend that it's all OK
'Til on the brink of what can't be endured

We survive what we can't change
So let it fade
Just let it go
We pretend so nothing does change
We're flowers never breaking through the stone

I pretended and prayed it all away
Searching for a place to hide
But I don't need afflicted memories to fade
I just want to feel something real inside

We survive what we can't change
So let it fade
Just let it go
We pretend so nothing does change
We're flowers never breaking through the stone

I've been pushing stones away
Far from these shores
I
Pretend that it's all OK
'Til on the brink of what can be endured

We survive what we can't change
So let it fade
Just let it go
We pretend so nothing does change
We're flowers never breaking through the stone

I've never understood how a song this good managed to slip by so many people, and remains so unnoticed to this day.

@virgil5650 I'm sure you can find some MIley Cyrus to go enjoy...

Some of it was the marketing and promotion , but a lot of it had to do with the fact that in 2008 the music industry was in total turmoil due to downloading. Labels could not recover their investment into an artist so they were reluctant to spend money promoting an artist. Unfortunately fans refused to understand that expecting all the music to be free creates a situation where an artist can’t reinvest capitol to promote and expand what they do. Before anybody says anything dumb about how they have money/they make enough money… Would you invest as much money as possible into something with no way to at least recover the investment? It’s not as simple as labels = bad (not saying you were saying that, just speaking generally).

This record really suffered from that situation it’s sad because it’s such a great record…

Prob because they came, made a banger, and left to never be heard of again.

I only heard it from my Spotify recommendations. Loved it ever since!

It is Billy's compositions that really make me love APC... and he is obviously no slouch here either.  People may argue all day long about Maynard singing better, but to me Maynard's voice is just the pretty icing atop a big beautiful layered cake that Billy baked up.

@Sam Avery so Maynard writes all the guitar chord progressions and melodies??? Or the bass? Or the drums? Vocals are only one piece of the pie that makes a great song. Maynard is a master of his craft, but that doesn’t mean the other people in his bands are all slouches.

@Æon Blue dude I tricked my best bud with this song. He thought it was APC new album and when I told him it was just Billy he tripped out. Dude sounds just like Maynard.
