[edit: he convinced Huub van der Lubbe (front man of De Dijk) to give him lessons in lyric writing, as far as I know not his producer. They convinced their producer by playing at his office in stead of handing over a demo]
The audience of their first theatre shows appreciated the songs they wrote specially for the shows. These shows were released in 2002 on the 3-CD box “Trilogie”. The three shows are “Zwerf’on” (Wander On, 1996), “Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans - John Lennon” and “It’s only cabaret but I like it”.
The theatre shows have comedy elements, but they contain serious stories as well.
Themes of Acda en De Munnik’s music and theatre work are love, broken-heartedness, enjoying life and fulfulling youth dreams.
In the summer of 1998, they had their breakthrough-hit with ‘Niet Of Nooit Geweest’. Several succesful albums followed, whilst still making shows and even a “Rock Opera”, ‘Ren Lenny Ren’ which was accompanied by the album ‘Liedjes van Lenny’.
On the 23th of November 2007 Acda en De Munnik released their new album “Nachtmuziek”. At the release of this album they stated they sought to go back to their musical “roots”: making music as they started back in 1998, without a big orchestra, mainly using drums, guitar, piano and vocals only. As for the beginning of 2008, it seems like Nachtmuziek can’t approach the great succes of the first four studio albums.
In 2014 they announced their split live on Dutch TV.

Z'n auto was volledig afgebrand
En de man die hem gekocht had
Stond onder zijn naam in de krant
Oh, oh, oh, even rustig ademhalen
Oh, oh, oh, even rustig ademhalen
Oh, oh, oh, even rustig ademhalen
Oh, oh, oh, lijkt of het regent als altijd
Maar het regent en het regent zonnestralen

On a terrace somewhere in France in the sun.
Sits a man who untill yesterday never won.
But his car flew off the road here very near
Without him, without Herman,
Because he just sold it.
Herman in the sun on the terrace,
Reads in the paper that he no longer lives
His car had completely burned down,
and the man who had bought it,
Was under his name in the paper.
O, o, o, just breathe slowly
O, o, o, seams like it's raining like always
But it's raining, yes it's raining sunrays
A week ago, in a park in Amsterdam
He had examined his life and was shocked
He was a man whose life was already determined
And of all his childhood dreams
It was only the long life that was achieved
O, o, o, just breathe slowly
O, o, o, seams like it's raining like always
But it's raining, yes it's raining sunrays
On a bench in the park he decided,
"Call it brave, call it escaping, but I am running away."
It's now a week ago, and here he sits again,
With more freedom then he wanted and now he no longer knows what to do
Herman reads the paper a hundred times,
It's really there, page 18, black bordered.
He used to keep his opinion, and all his dreams to himself.
Now he is nothing, nobody, nowhere.
So he can go wherever he wants
Herman pays and then stands up
He finally got a reason to go on
"I got a second chance and that's more then I deserve.
But if this is it, this is it
But if this is it, this is it
But if this is it, this is it
And we'll see what happens next.
O, o, o, just breathe slowly
O, o, o, seams like it's raining like always
But it's raining, yes it's raining sunrays
O, o, o, just breathe slowly
O, o, o, seams like it's raining like always
But it's raining, yes it's raining sunrays

Ik weet geen naam
I have nothing to do so i am giving you this
It's raining sunshine
Somewhere on a terrace in France in the sun
Was a man who never won until yesterday
But his car crashed nearby here
Without him, without Herman
Cause he just sold it
Herman in the sun on a terrace
Reads in AD(A Dutch newspaper) that he died
His car had totally burned down
And the guy who bought it
Was under Herman's name in the paper
Oooooooh oooooh
Just breath
Oooooooh oooh
Seems to rain as always
But it's raining
But its raining
Sunshine
A week ago in a park in Amsterdam
He saw his life and got scared
His life was all ready planned out
And from all the dreams he used to have
Only getting old came true
Oooooh
Just breath
Ooooooh
Seems to rain as always
But it's raining
And it's raining
Sunshine
On a bench in the park he decided
Call it brave, call it running away
But I'm leaving
A week ago now
And here he was
With more freedom then he wanted
And he didn't knew anymore
Herman reads the newspaper over and over again
Is it really there, page 18, with a black circle around?
He always kept silent about his dreams and opinions
Now he is nobody, nothing, nowhere,
He can do whatever he wants
Herman is brave and stands up
He finally has a clear head
I got a second chance and it is more then i deserve
But if this is it, then this is it
If this is it this is the life
And we'll see
Oooooh
Just breath
Oooh
Seems to rain as always
But it's raining
And it's raining
Sunshine
Oooh
Just breath
Oooh
Seems to rain as always
But it's raining
And it's raining
Sunshine
And it's raining sunshine

And many of us Duchman/women like Italy also very much. I am myself a lover of Roma and Amalfi. I walked there on the Sentieri degli Dei, every turn a stunning view. Divine!

Thank you so much on behalf of all Dutch people
