Drawing from the common failures of many relationships, Saint Paul based Robbie and Hiromi Matsumoto began writing tongue-in-cheek pop songs soon after they started dating in 2000 and decided to name their efforts after their shared favorite color red, or in Japanese, "Akai". Though most of their raw material was composed on two guitars, in early 2005 producer Eric Elvendahl began to arrange and record their songs with full instrumentation, which by 2006 grew into their first full-length album entitled "Pretty Songs About Ugly Things". Today Akai draws on the talents of up to 10 musicians for live support, playing mandolin, glockenspiel, flute, classical guitar, accordion and banjo. (www.theakai.com)

Beautiful
Akai Lyrics
Beautiful beautiful luxury we live in
How I adore my life in this life
Every day I count my blessings
Like the stars in the endless sky
Monday is my holiday, the first day of the week away from you
Your checkbook keeps me company; I treat myself to dinner for two
Go out for drinks with the guys from work; tell 'em all about your every quirk
The sun is saying with my heart "what was it that drove us apart?"
I go home to see you crying, can't bring myself to say I'm sorry
All day I've been steps from dying, wish I didn't care enough to worry
Take my shoes the Tv's waiting, the sound of your voice is irritating
I've been crying all day, I'm too tired to fight, guess I'll turn out the lights tonight
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful (x7)
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful (beautiful)
*Cue wicked solo*
Beautiful beautiful luxury we live in
How I adore my life in this life
Every day I count my blessings
Like the stars in the endless sky

I remember all the rules I was told as a young girl, I'm Caucasian, but grew up in the growing pains years, born 85 and grew up in the 90s. We were often taught "good girls don't" lessons, if someone forced it you told your family but no one else could know, media was constantly turn out movies were high school girls died from killers for losing the fight against carnal sins, hundreds more about unwed women giving birth to literal demon babies because she lived in sin with her partner, pushing further to attempt to cash in on pregnancy phobias, motherhood phobia, traumatic births and death all because women failed to 'do the right thing', eventually they managed to mash demonic babies as a result of women attempting to express bodily autonomy by getting abortions. I was so tired of being female that by 16 I chose to go right old fashioned and told my hubby I wasn't interested in any romantic relationship if marriage wasn't the end result and no sex would be had until after marriage or I turned 21.
