He graduated form Rachmaninoff Music School in Novgorod (specialization in piano, class of pedagogue T. Konkova, and composition, class of pedagogue B. Zorin) and Secondary Special Music School-College attached to Leningrad Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatoire (specialization in composition, class of pedagogue S. Wolfensohn; music theory, class of pedagogue S. Belkina; organ, class of pedagogue O. Minkina; piano, class of pedagogue N. Brovermann).

In 1995 he graduated with honours from St. Petersburg Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatoire, specialization in composition, class of Prof. A. Mnatsakanian, and organ, class of Prof. N. Oxentian. In 1995—1997 he had a probation period in St. Petersburg Conservatoire (specialization in organ, class of Prof. N. Oxentian, and clavecin, class of assistant professor E. Seredinskaya).

In 1999 he finished his post-graduate course in St. Petersburg Conservatoire, in March 2000 maintained his Ph. D. candidate dissertation "Development of the Organ Music in the 60 ths—90 ths of the XX Century" (Based on the Works of the Leningradian—St. Petersburgian Composers), scientific adviser — Prof. Dr. S. Hentova.

In 1993—1994 he was an exchange student in Rotterdams Conservatorium (Holland), specialization in organ (Prof. B. Winsemius), organ improvisation (Prof. A.J. Keijzer), composition (Prof. K. de Vries), piano (Prof. C. Steinroth). Participant and laureate of different composers and organ music performers contests and festivals. Since 1984 he has been performing actively piano, organ and clavecin concerts. He performed interpretations of the rare thus including modern music. He is an author of about 170 compositions for piano, choir, chamber ensembles etc. His compositions were performed in Russia, Holland, Germany, Bulgaria, Denmark, England, USA, Norway.

Since April 2000 Alex lives and works in Aure (Møre and Romsdal, Central Norway). He is organist in the church of St. Mary in Aure and organ/piano teacher in a local municipal culture school. He takes an active part in musical and other cultural life, participated in a staging of the musical by J. Bock and Sh. Harnick "Spelmann på taket" ("Fiddler on the Roof") in Aure and Brekstad (2001), in folk music festivals, he also helped while compiling the digest book of a local folk music in 2002. He was also a participant in Brekstad Culture Festival in 2003, Bodø International Organ Festival in 2005, also in Gothenburg International Organ Academy, Sweden, in 2004, 2006 and 2007 and in Smarano International Organ and Clavichord Academy, Italy, in 2008, 2009 and 2010.

Alex is a member of St. Petersburg Union of Composers, St. Petersburg Richard Wagner Union, German Richard Wagner Society, Musikernes Felles Organisasjon (MFO—Norwegian Musicians’ Union), TONO— Norwegian society of composers and performers' copyrights, GramArt—Grammophone Artists` Organization, Norway, Norwegian and Swedish Organ Societies, Oslo Grieg Society, Trondheim Chamber Music Society, European Piano Teachers`Association—EPTA Norway, Noregs Mållag (The New Norse Language Organization in Norway) and the World Wide St. Petersburgers` Club.

In February, 2010 he is awarded the Culture Prize from Aure Municipality for the year 2009.
