Creating quite a buzz as an independent artist, Amy Stroup communicates what she knows is true about life and faith in melodic lyric and verse. Amy has released four albums under her own label including, The Other Side of Love | Session One. She partnered with Grammy award-winning producer Nathan Chapman on the project to deliver delicately honest lyrics, pure vocals and smart instrumentation.
More recently, she has taken a less conventional approach and collaborated with a few good friends and producer Thomas Doeve to release the next three sessions of The Other Side of Love. Sessions Two, Three, and Four of the project will house the songs “Hold Onto Hope, Love”, “Chin Up”, “Odds of Being Alone”, and more as heard on ABC’s Private Practice, Brothers & Sisters, and Castle as well as the CW’s shows under Milkglass Creative.
“I try to focus on writing simply a great song, one song at a time, and when you are working with people you genuinely enjoy and live life with, the music naturally comes and speaks,” says Amy. She wanted to be open to God’s promises: “I wanted to be a righteous person [and] thrive like that.”
Amy draws from a range of geographic locales and musical influences, having called Boston, Texas and now Nashville home. There, she earned a liberal arts degree in marketing and classical guitar from Lipscomb University. Growing up, her musical influences included songwriters Ennio Morricone, Lucinda Williams and Patty Griffin.
In addition to the U.S., Amy has performed in Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean and Australia, often to benefit causes like MochaClub and Athentikos.
QUOTES:
"Amy Stroup has what is a rarity among most people doing music but common for all great artists that make a real impact - unique artistry that is immediately identifiable. That special something that cuts through the noise. I've been a fan since the first song." - Nathan Chapman, Grammy Award Winner
“Amy’s music is interesting, lyrically compelling, and musically fresh. Plus she is an incredible singer and performer. Her view of the world as a songwriter is unique and optimistic, vulnerable and strong. “ - Jody Williams, VP BMI NASHVILLE
“Amy is one of the most talented independent singer/songwriters working in Nashville today. She stunned me performing live on our Nashville Sunday Night broadcast and as I investigated her recordings, I found gems like 'Hold On To Hope Love,' 'I Fell For You' and 'I'm In,' which should all be hits.” - DAVID HALL, Operations Manager/Program Director, L100
"Amy has a tender gracefulness to her voice that takes the listener into a song and has them hanging on her next word." - Trent Dabbs, songwriter
