Born in the Midlands of England in 1974, Hunter° discovered an interest for sound engineering during his teens. Following his aspiration, he left school and began to work for bands such as Suede and The Wonder Stuff. Eventually, he joined New Generation Music and Mission as a travelling engineer, moving to Bristol in 1992 – the scene that was breaking drum and bass. After honing his skills as a DJ at various nightclubs, Hunter° joined Robbie Bronnimann and Ray Goudie as Hydro, further developing his production skills under their second album, Aborigination. Soon, he would also form a band named Trip with Martin King, and made a release in 1999 with the album Cultural Shif. The same year, Hunter° split with Hydro and moved to Swansea, Wales to focus on solo projects.
While continuing his work as a DJ around Swansea, Andy Hunter° set out to form his first solo album in 2000. Spanning a year and a half, his work eventually culminated into Exodus. Released on Nettwerk by the fall of 2002, the album gained praise from the US-based magazine Rolling Stone, and several tracks made it into mainstream media. "Go" and "Wonders of You" garnered major positions, being featured in various trailers: The Matrix: Reloaded, Sky High, National Treasure, Tomb Raider 2; motion pictures: Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever, The Italian Job; and ABC’s hit series, Alias. Hunter°'s work has also been featured in a handful of video games, including SSX 3, Enter The Matrix, Black Hawk Down, Lumines Mobile, Need for Speed: Underground, Burnout Revenge and Forza Motorsport 2.
The album spawned two singles, starting with "Amazing" in 2002, and "Go" the following year. 2002 also saw Hunter° touring the United States, Japan and Europe with top names in the dance music business, including Tiësto. Among his live performances, Hunter° has also performed at the Digital Entertainment Anywhere launch party in Los Angeles, 2004, hosted by Bill Gates, with a special performance of "Go" in surround sound.
Following the great success of his first album, Andy Hunter° followed up with a second record in May 2005, presenting the six track EP, Life. Released through Sparrow Records, Life continues in the style of what became his reputation from the previous album, and is mainly biased towards progressive breaks. Following new deals with the media, "Come On" was featured in the film trailer for Speed Racer. The song also made an appearance in the Christian video game Dance Praise, which also features the track "Open My Eyes", and the Exodus hit "Go".
In a cry for more variety and artistic freedom, Hunter° expanded from the roots of his first album, introducing Colour by the early spring of 2008. The same year, Hunter° also wrote and produced the score for the independent film Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed, with his co-producer from Colour, Robbie Bronnimann.
