As a young man he listened to blues and French chanson: Tom Waits, Bo Diddley, John Lee Hooker, Billie Holiday, Édith Piaf and Colette Magny. He also listened to a lot of rap.
In the spring of 2005, he released his first album with the studio "Gang" in Paris. This album contained autobiographical and sober lyrics. The music is a mix of his soul, reggae, and blues influences.
The television station France 2 chose him as the Singer of the Summer in 2007; the channel regularly showed videos of Cergy, Intégration, and Avec le Vent.
In April 2008 Anis returned to the studio and opened his blog.

Anis Lyrics

J'suis pas né dans le Missouri
J'suis pas d'Oklahoma City
J'ai grandi dans le 9-5 à Cergy ?
Cergy, mon petit paradis
Refrain
J'suis pas né dans le Missouri
J'suis pas d'Oklahoma City
J'ai grandi dans le 9-5 à Cergy?
Cergy, mon petit paradis
Ma sweet banlieue pourrie
Dans le coin, c'est l'Oise qui coule l'ami
Pas le Danube, ni le Mississipi
Ici c'est Cergy
La maison d'arrêt d'Osny
Le centre psychiatrique, si t'as d'autres soucis
Refrain
J'suis pas né dans le Missouri
J'suis pas d'Oklahoma City
J'ai grandi dans le 9-5 à Cergy?
Cergy, mon petit paradis
Ma sweet banlieue pourrie
Dans le coin, c'est l'Oise qui coule l'ami
Pas le Danube, ni le Mississipi
Ici c'est Cergy
The lyrics to Anis's song "Cergy" tell the story of someone who grew up in the suburbs of Paris, specifically in Cergy in the 9-5 department, and has a deep love-hate relationship with the place. The refrain repeats the lines "I'm not from Missouri, I'm not from Oklahoma City, I grew up in the 9-5 in Cergy, my little paradise, my sweet rotten suburb, around here it's the Oise river that flows, not the Danube or the Mississippi, this is Cergy."
Throughout the song, the singer reminisces about his memories of growing up in Cergy, the good and the bad. He mentions the demolition of a neighborhood he loved, the difficulties of living in a disadvantaged area, and the prevalence of drugs, but also the power of friendship and love that helped him overcome these challenges. He sings about the landmarks of his hometown, like the Butte à Juju, the Maison d'Arrêt d'Osny, and the Parc de la Préfecture, and how they all shaped his view of the world.
Overall, "Cergy" is a bittersweet ode to the singer's hometown, one that acknowledges its flaws while also celebrating the strength and resilience of the people who live there.
