At home or in the car, his family would sing and make music. They would travel throughout the summertime to folk, bluegrass and old time music festivals where his father would perform every year.
As Lucas became old enough to attend school, he also was sent to the Indiana University Children's Choir to hone his gift of singing. Although he would stay in this program for 6 years, performing in 3 operas as well as dozens of classical choral pieces, he never learned to love or appreciate this music until much later in his life. When Lucas was 12, he removed himself from the choir and went off in search of louder and faster music. It was in the punk and hardcore scene where Lucas found himself and has remained for the last 16 years. He playied in crust and grind bands Rune and Twentythird Chapter, as well as technical punk outfit K10 Prospect. Lucas lived in Praha, Czech Republic for a few years, but now he's back in the U.S. where he splits his time between touring solo with his own folk material, and playing guitar in the Orc-core Crust band Guided Cradle.
Lucas has released two solo demo's, two full lengths entitled "The Common Cold" in 2006 and "Putting The Hammer Down" in 2008. Lucas teamed up with Chuck Ragan of Hot Water Music to release both a split 7" in 2007, as well as a full length collaborative album called "Bristle Ridge." Most recently, in 2009, Lucas has released an Under The Influence split 7" with Frank Turner and a new full length entitled "Somebody Loves You."
In the summer of 2008, Lucas appeared on many dates of the Revival Tour alongside Chuck Ragan, Tim Barry (of Avail), Ben Nichols (of Lucero), among several others. And starting in May 2009 through the end of June, Lucas is on a European tour with Mike Hale and Josh Small.
