The prevention of the remix's release violates the rules in the previous TRO she was granted last year due to issues with her label not allowing her to release her EP "Suga". The new TRO filings state that if Megan cannot release the remix, "her music career will suffer irreparable damage, including devastating her relationships with her fans and with other recording artists in the music industry, including BTS" which "...cannot be compensated in the way of monetary damages." The song was scheduled for Friday, August 27th and she was seeking "emergency relief from the Court" before then.
The court documents (100% public court filing) show that Big Hit Music reached out for the remix on June 23d of this year. 1501 Certified Entertainment did not approve of the release, even after the negotiations with BHM and Roc Nation, and instead asked for a $100,000 fee that would not be shared with Megan Thee Stallion. Despite the efforts of BTS' and Megan's legal teams, 1501 additionally disapproved by stating that they "do not believe that this feature with BTS is good for her career as a recording artist". Megan states in the TRO filings that "the effort to try to restrain me from engaging in my artistic expression, and to prevent me from working with the hit band BTS cannot be quantified in terms of damages."
Later that day, the judge ruled in Megan's favor, thus allowing the song to be released as planned. Megan Thee Stallion has also paid a TRO bond ($10,000 + $100,000).
On August 27th 12 AM EST, the remix was released as initially planned.
