Babe Corner Lyrics

One, two, three, four

Hey, how you doin′?
Hey, how you doin'?
It′s cold, how you feelin'?
Cold, how you feelin'?

I never wanted a thing from you
I only asked for a cigarette
And all the shit that you put me through

I only wanted a cigarette

You think you′re such an artist
Such a cold guy
Into dies
That′s true
You're not made for me
And it′s true
I was not made for you
I was not made for you
I was not made for you
I was not made for you, yeah

I never wanted a thing from you
I only asked for a cigarette
And all the shit that you put me through
I only wanted a cigarette

I never wanted a thing from you
I only asked for a cigarette
And all the shit that you put me through
I only wanted a cigarette, yeah

Overall Meaning

In Babe Corner's song "Cigarette," the lyrics speak to a failed relationship where one person ended up hurt and simply wants a cigarette. The repetition of "Hey, how you doin'?" and "Cold, how you feelin'?" creates a sense of detachment and apathy towards the conversation. The main subject of the song, however, centers around the singer's desire for a cigarette from the person they are singing to. This is ironic because, while the person is not willing to give the singer a cigarette, they have also put the singer through a lot of stress and mistreatment. The singer feels like they are owed a cigarette just like they were owed kindness and respect in the relationship, but never received either.

The second half of the song touches on the relationship itself. The person the singer is addressing is portrayed as an "artist" who is "such a cold guy." The relationship was not meant to be, as confirmed by the repeated line "I was not made for you." The singer and the person they are addressing are not a good match, and the relationship was not built to succeed. The need for a cigarette represents the singer's desire to leave the situation and find something else - to move on and start anew.

Overall, Babe Corner's "Cigarette" is a melancholic representation of a failed relationship and the desire for closure and relief in the form of a cigarette.
