Made up of Christo Bowman (vocals), Gavin Bennett (bass), Miles Morris (drums) and Ray Libby (guitar) the four piece ranges from ages 19-22 yet has a sound reminiscent of rock stalwarts from generations past. “I grew up with a lot of world music playing in the house. When I was 10, I started getting heavily interested in the guitar, and my dad began introducing me to his records from the 70’s and the 80’s. Initially Elvis Costello, then to The Clash, The Cure, and so on,” notes Christo. “All of these artists and bands had a big impact on me, at a young age, as far as song composition goes. “ Influences are apparent on the band’s debut EP Transpose, where angst-ridden riffs and ethereal yet charismatic vocals pay tribute to post-punk legends of the early 80’s. “ I started writing my first songs at that time,” Christo continues, “Though we can now reflect on that era of music, those artists were ahead of their time in a lot of ways. That’s what’s most inspiring.”
Transpose was recorded in the studio with producer Eric Palmquist (The Mars Volta, Wavves, Trash Talk) and serves as a prelude to the band’s debut full-length slated for 2014. “The writing and recording process is always exciting, because it’s constantly changing and unique to each song. Inspiration comes and goes as it pleases, so a night when a song gets written is a very good night,” says Christo. Comprised of four tracks, Transpose flows effortlessly from start to finish showcasing the band’s stadium ready anthems and undeniably catchy hooks. “Music has the ability to evoke certain feelings in people, a way that not much else can. The pairing of words and sounds can be an extremely powerful tool, when done right. I think the ultimate goal for this band is to make music that causes people to really feel something.”
Aside from writing a record, Bad Suns’ 2013 was a busy one, complete with multiple CMJ showcases as well as sharing the stage with the likes of The 1975 and Vaccines with no signs of slowing down any time soon.

Meiko
on If You Say So
I'm running myself in the ground, l've got nowhere to go
You called my name, I heard no sound
It's okay though, if you say so
The scenery is new to me, blank canvas and a brush
I seek harmony, find misery
Not the end though, a crescendo
Hey, don't you know
I have today, forget tomorrow
We want what we don't know
Would you say so, if I said so
Hey, don't you know
I have today, forget tomorrow
I'm coming home
Because I said so, yeah I said so
Yeah
Now days go by in little time, I need somewhere to go
I dictate myself to fit this mold
It's okay though, if you say so
What's the fun in blending in, I'm here to make a mark
And I don't like the way you talk
Pessimistic, with statistics
Hey, don't you know
I have today, forget tomorrow
We want what we don't know
Would you say so, if I said so
Hey, don't you know
I have today, forget tomorrow
I'm coming home
Because I said so, yeah I said so
Yeah
Oo, oo oo
Oo, oo oo
Oo, oo oo
Ooeeoo
Ooeeoo
I don't know what's wrong with us
Generation of tired eyes
Value of time, running out
Ooeeoo
Ooeeoo
And I've been running circles now
It happens all the time
And tell yourself you're in control
Would you say so, if I said so
Hey, don't you know
I have today, forget tomorrow
We want what we don't know
Would you say so, if I said so
Hey, don't you know
I have today, forget tomorrow
I'm coming home
Because I said so, yeah I said so
Yeah
Ladadadadah
Oh, oh, oh
Ladadadadah
Oh, oh, oh
Ladadadadah
Oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh
Oh
Meiko
on memory serves
I've seen the world, depicted on a screen
We're cracked and broken, it's busting at the seams
When there's no hope to look forward to another day
I stay reminded of what they all say
Nothing's forever
And who's left to remember
And time flies and I know we're not alone in all of this
Yeah
Oh, oh
When tables turn, we earn bruises from the edge
Well I need an omen, what fortune lies ahead
And I've got hope, with a long life in front of me
We choose to trim the excess, and hold the master key
I'm so sick of it
And when's our time to go
And I'm so sick of it
It's what we'll never know
Nothing's forever
And who's left to remember
And times flies and I know we're not alone in all of this
Yeah, oh
We accept the truth, we expect to fall down
We're treading the waters, where many will drown
But memory serves a dish that's cold
We follow instructions, do as we're told
I'm so sick of it
And when's our time to go
And I'm so sick of it
It's what we'll never know
Nothing's forever
And who's left to remember
Times flies and I know we're not alone in all of this
Yeah
Nothing's forever
Nothing's forever
Time flies and I know we're not alone in all of this
Yeah
Woah, oh
