White Christmas
Bing Crosby Lyrics

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
Just like the ones I used to know
Where the treetops glisten and children listen
To hear sleigh bells in the snow

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
With every Christmas card I write
May your days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmases be white

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
Just like the ones I used to know
Where the treetops glisten and children listen
To hear sleigh bells in the snow

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
With every Christmas card I write
May your days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmases be white

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
Just like the ones I used to know
Where the treetops glisten and children listen
To hear sleigh bells in the snow

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
With every Christmas card I write
May your days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmases be white

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
Just like the ones I used to know
Where the treetops glisten and children listen

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas

Marco Giuras

In case someone feels like singing it like me
I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
Just like the ones I used to know
Where the treetops glisten and children listen
To hear sleigh bells in the snow
I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
With every Christmas card, I write
May your days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmases be white
I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
Just like the ones I used to know, (uh, uh, uh)
Where the treetops glisten
And children listen to hear

Life is strange, very ...

Sometimes something happens to you suddenly and everything you planned, all dreams or hopes, go to fry ... or the opposite happens, a stroke of ... luck or the classic stroke of genius and everything changes again , but for the better!

A bit like what happened before the American entry into World War II to a guy who, otherwise, would perhaps have remained unknown to most people. That guy was called Irving Berlin who, inspired by the Christmas carols listened by chance, began to hum and arrange what would become the biggest record hit in history, with more than 50 million copies sold: White Christmas.

Irving was not humming in the shower, as we practically all do, but he was working on the music of a film with Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire, "Holiday Inn", but when in that distant 1940 he finished writing this song he immediately called the secretary to make record what, according to him, would have been the best song anyone has ever written!

And Irving had been right since since December 25, 1941 (when it was sung to the NBC audience) White Christmas has accompanied practically all the Christmas holidays around the world to date.

Irving Berlin can thank his good star but Bing Crosby also can't complain since he was the first to sing it and that his voice was inextricably linked to this song.

Another small anecdote: there is no trace of that 1941 recording but also the master of the 1942 Decca was destroyed ... not because of the war (as many might have thought) but because of WEAR!

It was so widely used that in 1947 the Decca had to convene Bing Crosby again with the Trotter Orchestra and the Darby Singers to "try" to record it again in the "closest possible" way to the original of 1942!
