Currently signed at DJ Premier's label Year Round Records. He first appeared on a track in 1986 with Rockwell Noel on the single 'Beat You Down', who was a diss to KRS-One. But in 2007 Poet appeared on a track by KRS-One.
Poet, and long time companion DJ Hot Day, created the group PHD and published 'Without Warning' in 1990. A label for a second album could not be found. Meanwhile Poet created the more succesfull group Screwball together with KL, Kyron & Hostyle. After meeting DJ Premier in 1999 he produced two songs for the group in 2000. The group released two albums before they splitted.
In 2003 Poet signed at DJ Premier label to lift of his solo carreer, with the first singles 'Poet Has Come' and 'A Message From Poet' wich were an underground succes. In 2006 he released his album 'Rewind: Deja Screwed' with productions of hiphop pioneers like DJ Premier, Alchemist & Easy Mo Bee.
His next most anticipated album will be called 'The Blaqprint' and will be released in January 2009, 90% is produced by DJ Premier.
