They were on the BBC's Sound Of new music list for 2016 where they finished in fourth place. 2. Blossoms are a Finnish pop/funk band. They have to date released a self-titled EP in 2004, and two albums: 2006's self-titled debut and 2015's El Ritmo Que Obsesiona IV.
3. Blossoms is the alias of Melbourne electronic artist, Justin Cantrell.
He has just self-released his debut EP, meeting places.
Featuring 4 tracks, including re-takes on previously released singles, ‘Eyes On You’ and ‘Come Together’, the EP encompasses the progression and maturing nature of Cantrell as an artist as well as an ever evolving soundscape that lends itself to elements of chillwave, beats, ambient, dreampop, lo-fi and plenty more.
With an emphasis on live instrumentation, as well as distorted vocals, we feel that Blossoms definitely provides something special within a booming scene, whilst also maintaining an air of accessibility for punters from all circles. meeting places takes all these elements and brings them together to create a world of woozy layered synths and textured samples – before wrapping them up with an overall air of honesty in each recording.

You put love in my hand
I know, I know it's made of lead
Hello, hello
Science came, a kingdom reigned
Below, below my Charlemagne
And the river always flows, so if you go I will know
By the way, my Charlemagne
Hello, hello
Mars, tried, hide, cried, died
Inside the snow in the winter
Hello, hello
The doctors knew, prescribe me you
Below, below the amber sky
And the river always flows, so if you go I will know
By the way, my Charlemagne
And the river always flows tears of gold
Left me cold do you feel the same my Charlemagne?
My Charlemagne, my Charlemagne
My Charlemagne, my Charlemagne
Don't go
If only I could show you
Don't go
If only I could show you
Don't go
If only I could show you
Don't go
If only I could show you
And the river always flows
So if you go, I will know
By the way, my Charlemagne
And the river always flows tears of gold
Left me cold do you feel the same my Charlemagne?
Charlemagne
The song "Charlemagne" by the British band Blossoms is a melancholic love song that narrates the story of a person infatuated with their lover Charlemagne. The song presents a contradiction between the presence of love (represented by the greeting "Hello") and the weight of sadness ("it's made of lead"). Scientific and historical allusions are present in the lyrics, adding layers of depth to the song. The mention of Mars, for example, can be interpreted as a reference to the Roman god of war, a metaphor for the fights and struggles of the relationship. "My Charlemagne" seems to be the dominant motif of the song, a character who represents the end of the period of innocence and fun, the beginning of something darker and more intense, as Charlemagne was a king who reigned with authoritarianism and violence.
The lyrics in the second verse of "Charlemagne" are even darker, as they address the subject of mental health. The singer seems to be struggling with depression, and in a moment of despair, doctors prescribe Charlemagne as a cure. Musically, the song is built around a powerful guitar riff and includes a catchy chorus that repeats the name Charlemagne several times. The song's emotional tone is evocative and thought-provoking, presenting the complex sides of love, history, and the human mind.
