They are best known for their singles "Girl All The Bad Guys Want" in 2002 on Drunk Enough to Dance which was nominated for a 2003 Grammy Award for "Best Pop Performance by a Group or Duo" and "1985" (originally written by Mitch Allan of SR-71) in 2004 on A Hangover You Don't Deserve. Speaking with Songfacts about "Girl All The Bad Girls Want" in a 2010 interview, Reddick said: "'Girl All The Bad Guys Want' was my very first co-write ever, and me and Butch Walker sat in a room and literally wrote that song in 30 minutes. I mean, it was done."
The band's name is derived from comedian Steve Martin's "Bowling for Sh*t" routine from his 1978 comedy album, Wild and Crazy Guy, itself a reference to Bowling for Dollars. Jaret Reddick has also stated that at the end of his last performance with his old band one of the members came on stage and proclaimed "Come back next week when we play with our new band... BOWLING FOR SOUP!". This was supposed be to be joke name, but since they couldn't think of anything better the name stuck. Their single '1985' can be found on the UK and the Norwegian editions of Singstar Rocks for the PS2.
They have also became hits on Radio Disney with edits of "1985", "Punk Rock 101", "High School Never Ends", and the inclusion of their version of "I Melt With You" in the Disney movie "Sky High". They have also written and recorded "Today is Gonna Be a Great Day" as the theme song for Disney's "Phineas and Ferb"
Band Lineup:

Bowling for Soup Lyrics
(Woo-hoo-hoo)
(Woo-hoo-hoo)
Debbie just hit the wall, she never had it all
One Prozac a day, husband's a CPA
Her dreams went out the door when she turned twenty-four
Only been with one man, what happened to her plan?
She was gonna be an actress, she was gonna be a star
She was gonna shake her ass on the hood of Whitesnake's car
Her yellow SUV is now the enemy
Looks at her average life and nothin' has been alright
Since Bruce Springsteen, Madonna
Way before Nirvana
There was U2 and Blondie
And music still on MTV
Her two kids in high school
They tell her that she's uncool
'Cause she's still preoccupied
With 19, 19
1985
(Woo-hoo-hoo)
(1985)
(Woo-hoo-hoo)
She's seen all the classics, she knows every line
Breakfast Club, Pretty In Pink, even St. Elmo's Fire
She rocked out to Wham, not a big Limp Bizkit fan
Thought she'd get a hand on a member of Duran Duran
Where's the mini-skirt made of snakeskin?
And who's the other guy that's singin' in Van Halen?
When did reality become TV?
What ever happened to sitcoms, game shows?
(On the radio was)
Springsteen, Madonna
Way before Nirvana
There was U2 and Blondie
And music still on MTV
Her two kids in high school
They tell her that she's uncool
'Cause she's still preoccupied
With 19, 19
1985
(Woo-hoo-hoo)
She hates time, make it stop
When did Motley Crue become classic rock? (Classic rock)
And when did Ozzy become an actor?
Please make this stop, stop, stop
And bring back Springsteen, Madonna
Way before Nirvana
There was U2 and Blondie
And music still on MTV
Her two kids in high school
They tell her that she's uncool
'Cause she's still preoccupied
1985 (woo-hoo-hoo)
Since Bruce Springsteen, Madonna
Way before Nirvana
There was U2 and Blondie
And music still on MTV
Her two kids in high school
They tell her that she's uncool
But she's still preoccupied
With 19, 19

More than likely everyone knows these lyrics just as much as I do! But for those few who don't and are new to this song, this is for you!

You guys, it is happening. We have finally reached the age where we have people talking about how they wish they were born in our era to experience our music... That's pretty sobering

I agree I wish I did sounds like you guys had a blast

@karl woods it's the totalitarian plan by the US government. It's already pretty tyrannical in the US presently, like 90% there. The erosion of the 1st Amendment. When an American citizen peaceably protests he's put on a police database and FBI watchlist. When someone says something unpopular on their social media site off work he can easily lose his job when the manager finds out. The erosion of the 4th Amendment. The surveillance state. Obvious. When things become governmentally and/or corporately despotic the first things to go is beliefs and culture. The practice of it at least. And that's been going on now for a long time, including religion such as christianity.

Born in 1993 and I wish I was born in the 60s, went to school in 70s, danced and styled it up in the 80s to some of the best music ever created!!! And then raved like a squirrel with my nuts out in the 90s.. we missed out on so much, just happy I got a glimpse of Kurt Cobain before he left us

@the ghost of David Korresh I was merely born in 2004

@CatsupEmpire The Birthday Massacre released their first album in 2000, Hollywood Undead released their first album in 2008 and Circle Of Dust released their first album in...er... after actually doing the research 1993 so I did get that one wrong. Only human. However, Extinction Front, awesome band, industrial or aggrotech, released their first album in 2008. God Module, their first album was 2000. Celldweller, another great sci-fi metal band released their first album in 2003 and the list goes on and on if you know where to look.

When it's almost 2023, but you're still stuck in 1985 🤘
Bad Gamer
Not quite 1985, but the late 80s and 90s. I feel this in my soul lol

Fun fact:
This song is almost impossible to find when you forget the name, who sings it, that it's not a 90s song, and that it's been a decade since you last heard it and can't remember the lyrics too well. Spent an hour searching "garage band seduces neighbor's wife" before finding it by going to another early 2000s song and seeing it in the suggested.
But I found my way back! Thanks, random urge to listen to this song at 3am!

Bowling for soup will always be bigger than Walmart in my mind.
