He entered the Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique de Lyon in 1980, but left three years later due to artistic differences with his cello instructor.
He has attended master classes with the cellist Anner Bijlsma and violinist Jaap Schroeder.
He has played with William Christie (Les Arts Florissants), Christophe Coin (Set Mosaics and Ensemble Baroque de Limoges), Pierre Hantai (Concert French), Marc Minkowski (Les Musiciens du Louvre), Christophe Rousset (The Emma Kirkby) Pierre Cao (Arsys), Henri Ledroit, Veronique Gens, all Fitzwilliam (from 1985 to 2005), Ricercar Consort Philippe Pierlot, the Arpeggiata Christina Pluhar, Al Ayre Espanol ... and will perform under the direction of Franz Bruggen and Gustav Leonhardt (Bach concerts), Jos Van Immersel (participating in recording the complete symphonies of Schubert and Mendelssohn), Jean-Claude Malgoire, Philippe Herreweghe ...
From 1988 to 2004, Bruno was a member of II Seminario Musicale (Gerard Lesne): he has released 26 CDs, made several world tours, and won numerous prizes in music competitions.
Bruno Cocset has taught the baroque cello since 2001 at the Paris Conservatoire where he shared a class with Christophe Coin, as well as in Barcelona at the Academy of Music in Catalonia, where he established the cello class history in 2002. In September 2005 he was appointed Professor of Baroque cello at the Conservatory in Geneva.
He has since 1988 given numerous master classes at the Foundation Royaumont Conservatories in Bayonne, Caen, Strasbourg and Vannes (France), San Felliu de Guixols (Girona, Spain), St. Petersburg (Russia), Prague (Czech Republic), Bucharest and Cluj (Romania).
