Bumerang was a hard rock bend from Koper-Capodistria (Slovenia, formerly Yugoslavia) active in the 70's.
The original Koper (Slovenia) band Bumerang was formed when, following the break-up of rock act Kameleoni, some of the members of that group were joined by other like-minded musicians. Their first live performance featured Peter Veri Gorjup, Danilo Kocjančič, Lado Koradin and Zlatko Klun and took place on February 20, 1971 in the workers canteen of the TOMOS factory. Originally their repertoire was made up of hits from foreign bands (such as the Rolling STones, Free, Grand Funk Railroad, etc) but later they started to present their own material. Already in May 1971 they made an appearance at the BOOM Festival in Maribor, afterwards serving as opening band for the group Status Quo’s tour of Yugoslavia. Following their return from the tour, Kocjančič and Koradin left the band, while Klun and Gorjup moved to Ljubljana and joined forces with bass player Miro Tomasini. The trio recorded a single with the label Helidon featuring two songs, “Najdi si drugega” and “Jutri zjutraj moram zgodaj vstati,” which were written by Tomaž Domicelj and Rado Testen. The band then made repeat appearances at the BOOM Festival in 1973 and 1974, and were chosen to join the bands Bijelo Dugme, YU Grupa and Grupa 220 on a tour of Yugoslavia. In 1976 all the members of Bumerang except Zlatko Klun left the band to form their own groups (September and Atomsko sklonište), while Klun went on to reform the band under the same name but with an entirely new line-up in 1978. A year later they released their debut album Boomerang, recorded in Milan. Most of the songs on tyhe album were written by guitarist Goran Tavčar. that same year the band played on the youth festival in Subotica were they won the jury prize for their song “Živjeti iznad tebe bar jedan dan.” The band recorded another album, Na Zapadu ništa novo, before gradually fading from he music scene.
