Playing tough, guitar-based rock with no frills, plenty of swagger, and the enthusiasm of true fans, Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard broke through in 2000 with the songs "Double Denim Hop" and "John Lennon Is My Jesus Christ," both of which later popped up on their ten-song collection The Non-Stop EP.
Formed in Cardiff in 2017, Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard features Tom Rees on vocals and guitar, Zac White on guitar, Ed Rees on bass, and Ethan Hurst on drums. Tom Rees and Hurst were sharing a flat and playing in a group called Tibet when Rees began writing songs and recording demos with a different sound, inspired by classic rock bands of the '70s. In February 2017, Rees released four of his recordings as an EP titled Songs from This Year, credited to Buzzard. Rees passed the EP along to his friend Davey Newington (who would later form the group Boy Azooga), and Newington offered to help get Rees a gig for his new band. Since Buzzard was a one-man studio project, he had no band, but not wanting to pass up an opportunity, he recruited his brother Ed Rees to play bass and Ethan brought in his friend White to play guitar. Expanding the name to Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard, they began playing out in March 2017, and through frequent gigging they formed their musical personality and learned how to deliver for their audience. Their fan following grew, and in time included the Welsh actor and activist Michael Sheen; when Sheen brought the Homeless World Cup competition to Cardiff, he asked Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard to write a song for the occasion. "Daffodil Hill" was their contribution to the event, and the song gave them an audience across the U.K. for the first time. The group quickly followed it up with two more tracks, "Late Night City" and "Love Forever," and their profile rose in 2020 with the success of "John Lennon Is My Jesus Christ" and "Double Denim Hop." In July 2020, Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard collected the cream of their recordings to date on The Non-Stop EP, a set of songs that summed up their glam-infused hard rock attack.
