The Original members were Jim Wheat on bass (later with Johnny VanZant) Tom Coerver on keys, Kevin Taylor on drums, Rik Blanz and Bobby Ingram on guitar and Richard Smith on lead vocal. In 1985 the band signed a management deal with Pat Armstrong (Pat Travers, Molly Hatchet, Lynyrd Skynrd, etc.) and began courting major labels for a deal. In 1987 there was a shift in membership as Ron Perry came into the project from Detroit and Richard Smith took over the bass slot. Jim Wheat left the band and began touring with Johnny VanZant. A deal was signed with Parc/CBS records later in 1987 and the album was released in 1988. In the year prior to the release another shift in membership left the band with only three members: Ron Perry, Richard Smith and Bobby Ingram. Due to further complications, the band broke up after never having toured. Richard Smith and Ron Perry have reorganized China Sky due to requests from fans and are preparing to release a new album. The line up is Ron Perry on vocals, Richard Smith on bass, Steve Wheeler (Danny Joe Brown Band) on guitar, Bruce Crump (Molly Hatchet) on drums and Tim Mcgowan (Randall Hall) on keys.
