Monck planned and built the staging and lighting for the event, but also appeared on stage during the festival as an impromptu stage announcer, just like [artst]John Morris, Abbie Hoffmann and others. Some of Chip Monck's stage announcements have since featured on commercial Woodstock releases, hence the scrobbles.
Monck's most famous announcement was his emotional farewell at the end of the festivals. The man who lit Woodstock also 'switched off the light' at the very end.
