Featuring brothers Edward (who wrote most of their songs) and Carter with sisters Billie Jo and Rose Cornelius, the soulful pop group started as an idea when they sung in church. She and her brothers formed "Cornelius Brothers & Sister Rose" in 1969. Sister Rose already had experience playing on the road starting at age 14 with "Freddie Scott & The High Steppers", later also being in a mid-60s Vegas revue called "The Gospel Jazz Singers".
Managed initially by Dionne Warwick's father Speedy Warwick, they soon were recording for United Artists and scored hits from 1971 to 1974 with lushly orchestrated, million seller tunes such as "Treat Her Like a Lady" (1971), "Too Late to Turn Back Now" (1972), "I'm Never Gonna Be Alone Anymore" (1973), and "Don't Ever Be Lonely (A Poor Little Fool Like Me)" (1974). Sadly, though having early successes, their sweet soul sound (viewed by many fans as reminiscent of The Jackson 5 and The Supremes) did not gain much more attention as the decade came to a close. Still, their early hit singles are still heavily requested and frequently played on oldies format stations.
Carter, who died in 1991 at age 43, had changed his name in 1976 to Prince Gideon Israel, after joining a reclusive black supremacist religious religious sect in Miami, whose followers all adopt the name Israel. Sister Rose continued in show biz for a while, working with her husband Garvey playing R&B and reggae tunes around Florida. While the group is no more, their songs still receive considerable airplay.

Too Late To Turn Back Now
Cornelius Brothers & Sister Rose Lyrics
My mama told me, she said, "Son, please beware
There's this thing called love, and it's ah ev'rywhere"
And she told me it can break your heart (break your heart)
And put you in misery (it can put you in misery)
Since I met this little woman I feel it's happened to me
And I'm tellin' you
It's too late to turn back now
I believe, I believe, I believe I'm falling in love
It's too late to turn back now
I believe, I believe, I believe I'm falling in love
I find myself phonin' her at least ten times a day
It's so unusual for me to carry on this way
I tell you, I can't sleep at night, a wanting to hold her tight
I tried so hard to convince myself that this feelin' just can't be right
And I'm tellin' you
It's too late to turn back now
I believe, I believe, I believe I'm falling in love
It's too late to turn back now
I believe, I believe, I believe I'm falling in love
It's too late to turn back now (ooh baby)
I believe, I believe, I believe I'm falling in love
It's too late (baby) to turn back now (I tell ya)
I believe, I believe, I believe I'm falling in love (oh)
I wouldn't mind it if I knew she really loved me too
But I'd hate to think that I'm in love alone
And nothing that I can do, oh
It's too late to turn back now
I believe, I believe, I believe I'm falling in love
It's too late to turn back now
I believe, I believe, I believe I'm falling in love
It's too late to turn back now
I believe, I believe, I believe I'm falling in love (ooh baby)
It's too late to turn back now (I tell ya)
I believe, I believe, I believe I'm falling in love
It's too late to turn back now
I believe, I believe, I believe I'm falling in love
It's too late to turn back now
I believe, I believe, I believe

hardlines4 Okay, so since I didn’t really explain this easily I should do it now, and don’t give me that fuckin’, “HUR DUR YOU’RE JUST BUTTHURT LOL!!😹😹😹😹
GO TO SLEAP CUPCAKE 🧁 CHILD!”
I’m not butthurt, I’m just not lazy, using the same insult over and over again.
1: Using the same insult doesn’t do shit afterwards, it just makes you look slow.
2: don’t act like your superior because you like good music. Anyone can like anything, even if what they like sucks ass. I mean, people like you are annoying as shit, and if I’m a millennial, I don’t wanna be whatever you are (I’m not even a millennial, I’m younger so don’t give me that bullshit.)
3:Millennial ain’t a good insult anymore, although it never really was.
You sound like the type of person to shit on someone because they don’t have the same interests as you, which I suppose you are.
You’re a lazy, whining, slow, assoholic of an internet user and you are why people make fun of commenters like you.
So, to put it in caveman terms,
“Millennial bad because music bad is bad phrase!
Say millennial good because music good bad!”

I believe, I believe
I believe I'm falling in love
It's too late, baby (to turn back now)
I believe, I believe
I believe I'm falling in love
I wouldn't mind it if I knew
She really loved me too
But I hate to think
That I'm in love alone
And nothing that I can do, whoa

The Dance Scene in BlacKKKlansman that uses this song was beautiful. It had the warmest glow and almost brought a tear to my eyes to see on screen. In a Summer full of special effects and explosions and carnage... it's great to see a mature film that feels authentic.

@B G you said everything I was thinking...thanks for that. Spike is a true genius.

spike lee is my favorite director of all time but that might be the best scene he’s ever done. juxtaposing the terror pigs across this country inflicted on bpp organizers with the utter joy of community and belonging was such a powerful and gorgeous moment.
William Bone
Did bring a tear to mine.

During Blackkklansman, I was singing it in the movie theater...

Damn, did anybody grow up on this song like me? Lol. Everybody's talking about Black Klansman

The Spinners, The O'Jays, Temptations, Chi-Lites - they and all the rest play in my head at some time every day. No associations other than the music and the simpler times of those days.
Green Dream
I was listening to this song the day before I saw BlackkKlansman :)

I did Desmond Murray! Listening to this song missing my sister.
