Lay Me Down
Crosby & Nash Lyrics

Driving out through the windmills
And some of them were still
Sometimes it's hard to catch the wind
And bend it to your will

Even though it's hard to know
Just how the story ends
The road is long and it takes its time
On that you can depend

Lay me down in the river
And wash this place away
Break me down like sand from a stone
Maybe I'll be whole again one day

Lay me down, lay me down
Maybe I'll be whole again
Lay me down, lay me down
Maybe I'll be whole again

Somewhere between Heaven and Hell
A soul knows where it's been
I want to feel my spirit lifted up
And catch my breath again

Lay me down in the river
And wash this place away
Break me down like sand from a stone
Maybe I'll be whole again one day

Lay me down, lay me down
Maybe I'll be whole again
Lay me down, lay me down
Maybe I'll be whole again
Lay me down, lay me down
Maybe I'll be whole again one day

This is one of THE most beautiful songs EVER in the universe of Crosby/Nash.
Seriously - a religious experience🙌🏼

Janet Jacks

I have listened to this track numerous times and have never been able to do so without crying, it is probably the most meaningful piece of music I have ever heard and will certainly be played at my funeral.  I am so grateful and cannot put into words how much it means to me.

Frank Rambaek

I share what you feel and say. I intend to make a free !!translation into german, sing it with my guitar, to be played one day at my funeral.

Tova Kaye

This tune always brings tears to my eyes...makes me think of how fast life passes by and how hard it is to lose loved ones. Some of the best harmonies ever. So thankful to have grown up with this music.

marco pecora

Me too ... so so grateful

Allen Zemlicoff

Nobody seems to appreciate the quality of their voices. Their harmonies are simply wonderful.

Ed Ryba

What do you mean NOBODY, Allen? I think EVERYBODY appreciates their harmonies and the way their voices blend. It’s just so obvious, nobody thinks to say it!

Mike Sisley

I appreciate them. I am a 1st tenor. I sing in all sorts of groups all the time, just trying to make a living. I appreciate harmonies. It all clicked in my head in the Baptist Church one day in youth choir when I was 7. Harmony matters.

Don,t worry we are man in this
world

Um... I think EVERYbody appreciates their harmonies if you like them at all!
If it’s not their thing - they won’t be paying attention.
What are ya gonna do?🤷🏻‍♀️
