Do-do you know how to patch up a wound tell me,
Are you patient, understanding?
Cause I might need some time to clear the hole in my heart and I
I've tried every remedy and nothing seems to work for me
Baby, this situation's driving me crazy
And I really wanna be your lady
But the one before you left me so damaged (damaged) damaged (damaged)
I thought that I should let you know
That my heart is damaged (damaged) so damaged (so damaged)
And you can blame the one before
So how you gonna fix it, fix it, fix it
How you gonna fix it, fix it, fix it (Baby I gotta know, what are you gonna do)
So how you gonna fix it, fix it, fix it
How you gonna fix it, fix it, fix it (Baby I gotta know, what are you gonna do)
Do-do you got a first aid kit handy
Do-do you know how to patch up a wound tell me
Are you-Are you patient, understanding?
Cause I might need some time to clear the hold on my heart and I
You try to gain my trust
Talking is not enough
Actions speak louder than words
You gotta show me something
My heart is missing some pieces
I need this puzzle put together again
Damaged (damaged) damaged (damaged)
I thought that I should let you know
That my heart is damaged (damaged) so damaged (so damaged)
And you can blame the one before
So how you gonna fix it, fix it, fix it
How you gonna fix it, fix it, fix it (Baby I gotta know, what are you gonna do)
So how you gonna fix it, fix it, fix it
How you gonna fix it, fix it, fix it (Baby I gotta know, what are you gonna do)
Can you fix my h-e-a-r-t
Cause it's d-a-m-a-g-e-d
Can you fix my h-e-a-r-t
Tell me are you up for the challenge
Cause my heart is damaged
Damaged (damaged) damaged (damaged)
I thought that I should let you know
That my heart is damaged (damaged) so damaged (so damaged)
And you can blame the one before
Damaged (damaged) damaged (damaged)
I thought that I should let you know
That my heart is damaged (damaged) so damaged (so damaged)
And you can blame the one before
So how you gonna fix it, fix it, fix it
How you gonna fix it, fix it, fix it
How you gonna fix it, fix it, fix it
How you gonna fix it, fix it, fix it
My heart is damaged, damaged, damaged
My heart is damaged, damaged, damaged
My heart is damaged, damaged, damaged
My heart is damaged, damaged, damaged
My heart is damaged
The lyrics to Danity Kane's "Damaged" explores the singer's state of emotional turmoil caused by a previous relationship. The song is divided into two parts, the first part asking the current partner if they can fix her damaged heart while the second part expressing the difficulty she faces in trusting people due to her past experiences. The opening lyrics "Do you got a first aid kit handy? Do you know how to patch up a wound?" illustrate her need for someone to heal her emotional pain. She questions her partner's patience and understanding as she tries to recover from her past relationship's aftermath. She admits to trying various remedies to feel better but to no avail. Her request for assistance from the current partner reveals her vulnerability and need for emotional support.
The song then moves to the second part, where the singer acknowledges that talking is not enough to gain her trust. She needs her current partner to prove their love through their actions as "Actions speak louder than words," and she also acknowledges her puzzle-like heart that requires effort to piece back together. The repeated line "My heart is damaged" is an indication of the emotional scars that someone carries after a failed relationship. Overall, the song portrays how one's past can affect their present relationships and how difficult it can be to trust and love again.
