Over the past year, the girls' live demos and videos have circulated online. Deap Vally officially released their debut single, 'Gonna Make My Own Money', on Ark Recordings on July 30th, 2012. 'Gonna Make My Own Money' received an overwhelming positive response in both the U.S. and the U.K. They played their first London show at the Old Blue Last pub and venue in early July, where several other bands have made their mark. They have also landed spots at music festivals such as Hyde Park with Iggy Pop in London, United Kingdom, Latitude Festival in Henham Park in Suffolk, United Kingdom, and are set to play Reading and Leeds Festival in late August[when?]. Their live shows draw similar comparisons to Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney of The Black Keys, as well as guitar blues influences from Jack White.
Deap Vally will close out the 2012 year with a debut performance in Japan in November, where they will share the stage with the likes of Thurston Moore and Dinosaur Jr., among others.
Deap Vally's debut album will be released under Island Records / Communion in 2013.

Oh
Oh
Oh
Oh
Oh
Oh
Oh
Baby do you love me
Like you say you do?
Baby do you love me?
Is this called love to you?
And if you wanna serve me
Show me you deserve me
'Cause if you really love me
Be a bigger man than you.
Oh
Oh
Oh
Oh
Now are you gonna please me
Like you swore you would?
Was it just to tease me?
Better treat this woman good
No you don't get this
If you don't treat me well
'Cause what you call love
Baby I call hell
Oh
Oh
Oh
Oh
Oh
Oh
Oh
Oh, yeah
Huh
Yeah
Huh
Deap Vally’s song “Baby I Call Hell” is a powerful expression of a woman’s desire for respect in a relationship. The lyrics are delivered in a confrontational manner, indicating that the singer has reached her limit with the treatment she is receiving from a partner. The opening line “Baby do you love me like you say you do” captures the singer’s doubt about the sincerity of her partner’s feelings. She is challenging him to demonstrate that he truly loves her through his actions, not just his words.
The second verse of the song is even more direct: “Now are you gonna please me like you swore you would? Was it just to tease me? Better treat this woman good.” Here, the singer is putting her partner on notice that she expects to be treated with respect and will not tolerate anything less. The repeated refrain “Oh oh oh, baby I call hell” is a warning that the consequences of mistreatment will be severe and that the singer is not afraid to stand up for herself.
Overall, “Baby I Call Hell” is an anthem for women who are tired of being mistreated in relationships. It is a bold articulation of self-respect and self-worth, and a declaration that women will not accept anything less than genuine love and respect from their partners.
