In 1996, Breakfast at Tiffany's, which referenced the classic Audrey Hepburn film of the same name, reached the top five in the U.S. and number one in the United Kingdom.
There was conjecture that the band took so much time off between Home and Deep Blue Something in order to fight US centered copyright issues related to their initial album, 11th Song, which they believed to be of lower quality than their name deserved. The 7 year hiatus between albums is believed to be partially responsible for their failure to succeed in the US with their self-titled release.
The band returned in 2015 to release new music for the first time since 2001. This EP was titled Locust House.
John Kirtland is now running a successful independent record label called Kirtland Records. Based out of Dallas, Texas and Los Angeles, California, Kirtland's shrewd business dealings led to his ownership of the back-catalog of superstar band, Bush and royalty rights on the sales of certain albums by No Doubt. After selling off his rights to the No Doubt material, Bush remains on the Kirtland label along with successful indies like Bril and the Burden Brothers.

No common ground to start from
And we're falling apart
You'll say the world has come between us
Our lives have come between us
Still I know you just don't care
And I said, "What about Breakfast at Tiffany's?"
She said, "I think I remember the film
And as I recall, I think we both kinda liked it"
And I said, "Well, that's the one thing we've got"
I see you, the only one who knew me
But now your eyes see through me
I guess I was wrong
So what now? It's plain to see we're over
And I hate when things are over
When so much is left undone
And I said, "What about Breakfast at Tiffany's?"
She said, "I think I remember the film
And as I recall, I think we both kinda liked it"
And I said, "Well, that's the one thing we've got"
You'll say that we've got nothing in common
No common ground to start from
And we're falling apart
You'll say the world has come between us
Our lives have come between us
Still I know you just don't care
And I said, "What about Breakfast at Tiffany's?"
She said, "I think I remember the film
And as I recall, I think we both kinda liked it"
And I said, "Well, that's the one thing we've got"
Ooh, and I said, "What about Breakfast at Tiffany's?"
She said, "I think I remember the film
And as I recall, I think we both kinda liked it"
And I said, "Well, that's the one thing we've got"
And I said, "What about Breakfast at Tiffany's?"
She said, "I think I remember the film
And as I recall, I think we both kinda liked it"
And I said, "Well, that's the one thing we've got"
The song "Breakfast at Tiffany's" by Deep Blue Something is a tale of a couple on the verge of breaking up due to the lack of common ground between them. Despite their differences and the fact that the relationship has reached its end, the couple reminisces about a moment that they both enjoyed equally, which is watching the famous movie "Breakfast at Tiffany's." The singer pleads with his partner, asking her to remember the positive moment shared between them while she was receptive to him. He understands that they may not agree on everything, but emphasizes the importance of finding a point of harmony.
The chorus of the song highlights the sentiment behind the film and focuses on the fact that these two people shared a special moment watching it together. While their relationship might be falling apart, this common ground is what they must hold on to. The song portrays the importance of finding little things in common and treasuring them amidst the differences.
In conclusion, "Breakfast at Tiffany's" is a bittersweet ballad of lost love, where despite everything holding against them, the couple clings to a memory of a shared interest that holds them together. The song emphasizes that even when everything is falling apart, it's still worth remembering the things that brought you together in the first place.
