He was front man for Barleycorn from 1970 to the mid-1990s. With his next band, Nickelodeon, McCormack toured Australia with The Fureys and Daniel O'Donnell. He toured extensively in the US featuring regularly at major Irish festivals such as Milwaukee and Cleveland. During the late 1990s, McCormack performed as a member of The Fureys . In 2000 McCormack realised a lifetime ambition when he recorded and released 'Never Too Far From My Mind', which was to be his only solo album.
