Layla
Derek and the Dominos Lyrics

What'll you do when you get lonely
And nobody's waiting by your side?
You've been running and hiding much too long
You know it's just your foolish pride

Layla, you've got me on my knees
Layla, I'm begging, darling please
Layla, darling won't you ease my worried mind

I tried to give you consolation
When your old man had let you down
Like a fool, I fell in love with you
Turned my whole world upside down

Layla, you've got me on my knees
Layla, I'm begging, darling please
Layla, darling won't you ease my worried mind

Let's make the best of the situation
Before I finally go insane
Please don't say I'll never find a way
And tell me all my love's in vain

Layla, you've got me on my knees
Layla, I'm begging, darling please
Layla, darling won't you ease my worried mind

Layla, you've got me on my knees
Layla, I'm begging, darling please
Layla, darling won't you ease my worried mind

Happy Birthday Eric.....
Funny story about this song. A couple of years ago, I had heard the "Classic Rock" station play this song on about 3 different occasions and cut in before the song was over. I HAD to e-mail them and tell them, you can't call yourself a "Classic Rock" station if you are going to do that! The song is NOT over until Duane does the "little bird" at the end! About 2-3 days after my e-mail I heard the song again on the station and they waited until it was over and the DJ said....."Gotta wait for the bird, it's not over until then". I guess I got through to them! :)

What a [insert the right word] story! Really glad that you got through to them! That's why music is not what it was, people cut corners!

@Nova Stariha - Derek & The Dominos didn't form until 1970 and came out of Clapton's time with Delaney & Bonnie. Clapton didn't pen Layla until 1970. He states so in his bio and various interviews but what would he know, right?

Nova Stariha

@justafanintexas it’s actually sixties but not released until 1970 but the story
Real life dat it iz was thrust late sixties and song written 1968 end finishes 69
Released 70 …..

One of the most legendary songs ever made.

Lee Gilmour

A pity he never wrote it

immortelle3

Of course, but Clapton did a crime murdering it with his unplugged version.
