The band started in 2006 when Moroni Brun wanted to leave the band he had co-founded with long time collaborators David Logan (his stage name) and Jason Curtiss - Pedestrian X. Brun found his own replacement in David Williams, introducing him to Logan. Logan and Williams hit it off musically right a way. Logan and Curtiss decided to leave their former project behind to form a new band with Williams. While deliberating on a name, Curtiss related an idea for a song - "Disappearance of Anna." Logan thought this a perfect band name as the initials (DOA) would bring some mystique. Williams and Curtiss agreed and Disappearance of Anna was born.
After the release of their first EP - "the Missing," which was made of raw tracks never really meant to be a professional album, Jason Curtiss left the band due to creative differences. Left to their own devices, David Logan and Dave Williams decided to re-record the album dubbing the future release "the Lost Part II." Their new sound went very heavy on the electronics, switching from their previous heavy rock with industrial undertones to a much more dark and industrial sound comparable to Marilyn Mansion, Nine Inch Nails, My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult, or Leather Strip.
In the summer of 2008, DOA released their first full album - "the Brighter Side of Terror" on Jamendo - a free Creative Commons only music service - claiming it to be a collection of b-sides from a forth coming album, "the Lost Part II." A string of remixes came out every month after in the form of singles.
In December of 2008 another full album was released by the band which appeared to be more remixes of older songs along with some new material. The album, "Violent Lullabies (and other songs for children)," was less industrial and more gothic-techno in nature. Two months later they started releasing singles again.
When their intended album, "the Lost Part II," will be released remains to be seen. However, it is known that they wish to release in in October of the year it is finished.
