@Mark Ostermayer He means The Band, the roots rock group of the 60s and 70s.

David Bowie also did this tune, in one of his first singles I believe

Dogface pretty sure it was disbanded by then. 1949 was the first year of 45rpm, which I assume you mean since you mentioned lp records. This is from 1917. The group didn't stay together forever. At first it was ted lewis' group but the personnel of course changed over time
