A core member of the Jovem Guarda ("Young Guard") scene of 1960's Brazilian pop-rock, Erasmo often appeared on television, in magazines and feature films with fellow teen idols Roberto Carlos and Wanderléa.
In contrast to his simpler pop-rock early sound, Erasmo went on to produce several of the more moody and introspective MPB records of the 1970's, including "Sonhos e Memórias" and "Carlos, Erasmo".
Carlos died on 22 November 2022, at the age of 81.
Gente Aberta
Erasmo Carlos Lyrics

Com quem não tem amor
Gente certa é gente aberta
Se o amor me chamar
Eu vou
Pode ser muito bonito
O mar, o sol e a flor
Mas se não abrir comigo
Não vou, não vou
As pessoas que caminham
Seja lá pra onde for
É uma gente que é tão minha
Que eu vou, que eu vou
Quem não tem nada com isso
Veio a vida e não amou
Gente certa é gente aberta
Se o amor me chamar
Eu vou, eu vou, eu vou...
The lyrics to Erasmo Carlos's song Gente Aberta are about the importance of being open to love and surrounding oneself only with people who have love in their hearts. The singer declares that he no longer wants to associate with those who do not have love, and believes that the right people to be around are those who are open to love. He admits that the beauty of nature, such as the sea, sun, and flowers, is not enough for him if he cannot share it with someone who is open to love with him. He emphasizes that the people who cross his path, no matter where they are going, are his people, and he will follow wherever they go. Ultimately, he sings about how the right people are those who have love in their hearts, and if love calls him, he will answer.
