With influences ranging from rock & hip hop all the way to reggae & funk, Fluid Minds truly have created a style of their own. All members of the band are multi-instrumentalists, allowing them to further expand their musical spectrum.
Their first album, Love In Analog EP, showcases their main roots of alternative rock. Songs from this EP, such as "Johnny B. Bad" and "Come Back Ditka," were played on Chicago's alternative radio station, Q101. Also, "Complicated" gained national exposure through an ESPN promo commercial for the 2008 NBA Finals.
The sophomore album, The [as] Mixtape, took an experimental approach with more hip hop & electronica based tracks. "The Owls," "This Song Needs More Cowbell" and "Yeah Yeah Yeah" were featured on Cartoon Network's [adult swim].
The third album, Gamma Wave, fuses the heavy rock base of Love in Analog along with the electronic/digital elements of The [as] Mixtape. Major additions to this album include the use of synthesizers along with added guitar layers. This album showcases more of the progressive sound that the band is capable of producing.
The latest album, Vaporizer, was released on a whim during the week of Halloween 2010. It consists of several unreleased demos and compositions from various members of the band. This particular album represents the "darker side" of the Fluid Minds sound.
While Fluid Minds' studio releases showcase their musical talents, their live performances truly encapsulate their energy and capabilities to perform digital music on the spot.
