Dancing With Myself
by Generation X

On the floor of Tokyo
Or down in London town to go, go
With the record selection
With the mirror reflection

I'm dancing with myself
When there's no-one else in sight
In the crowded lonely night
Well I wait so long

For my love vibration
And I'm dancing with myself
Oh dancing with myself
Oh dancing with myself

Well there's nothing to lose
And there's nothing to prove
I'll be dancing with myself
If I looked all over the world

And there's every type of girl
But your empty eyes
Seem to pass me by
Leave me dancing with myself

So let's sink another drink
'Cause it'll give me time to think
If I had the chance
I'd ask the world to dance

And I'll be dancing with myself
Oh dancing with myself
Oh dancing with myself
Well there's nothing to lose

And there's nothing to prove
I'll be dancing with myself
If I looked all over the world
And there's every type of girl

But your empty eyes
Seem to pass me by
Leave me dancing with myself
So let's sink another drink

'Cause it'll give me time to think
If I had the chance
I'd ask the world to dance
And I'll be dancing with myself

Oh dancing with myself
Oh dancing with myself
If I had the chance
I'd ask the world to dance

If I had the chance
I'd ask the world to dance
If I had the chance
I'd ask the world to dance

Dancing with myself
Dancing with myself
Dancing with myself
Dancing with myself

If I looked all over the world
And there's every type of girl
But your empty eyes
Seem to pass me by

Leave me dancing with myself
So let's sink another drink
'Cause it'll give me time to think
If I had the chance

I'd ask the world to dance
And I'll be dancing with myself
Oh dancing with myself
Oh dancing with myself

If I had the chance
I'd ask the world to dance
If I had the chance
I'd ask the world to dance

If I had the chance
I'd ask the world to dance

Both versions are great listening, but gotta prefer the Generation X one just for the more raw sounding guitars.

Mario

always. ... no comparisons...even lyrically...superior

Cheesefinnegan

There should be more modern music that sounds like this.

Back in the day simply everybody liked Billy Idol. Girls thought he was hot and guys thought he was cool. You could like Metallica and him. Or Duran Duran and him. Or Sonic Youth and him. Or Bruce Springsteen and him. Or Kraftwerk and him. That's why WE chose the name Generation X. There were others; the latchkey gen, the video gen etc. Gen X just was the coolest. Like Billy Idol.

SuperiorPegasus Fox - In case you didn't understand, Generation X was a British punk band in the late 70's fronted by Billy Idol. Then In 1980 or 1981 he moved to New York and became a solo artist.
