Baker Street
Gerry Rafferty Lyrics

Winding your way down on Baker Street
Light in your head and dead on your feet
Well, another crazy day
You'll drink the night away
And forget about everything

This city desert makes you feel so cold
It's got so many people, but it's got no soul
And it's taken you so long
To find out you were wrong
When you thought it held everything

You used to think that it was so easy
You used to say that it was so easy
But you're trying, you're trying now

Another year and then you'd be happy
Just one more year and then you'd be happy
But you're crying, you're crying now

Way down the street there's a light in his place
He opens the door, he's got that look on his face
And he asks you where you've been
You tell him who you've seen
And you talk about anything

He's got this dream about buying some land
He's gonna give up the booze and the one-night stands
And then he'll settle down
In some quiet little town
And forget about everything

But you know he'll always keep moving
You know he's never gonna stop moving
'Cause he's rolling, he's the rolling stone
And when you wake up, it's a new morning
The sun is shining, it's a new morning
And you're going, you're going home

There are some songs that take you back in an instant, to a time that seems so distant, yet so clear and near. They leave you with a lump in your throat at years gone by, memories engraved in your head, and in your heart. So many memories. This song is one of them ❤️😢

O passado é confortável... talvez por ser imutável... por isso voltamos lá... mesmo que nem todas lembranças sejam felizes... 👋🏼🙂

Yup

Very well said Marie! My feelings exactly. 😊👍

I think memory is one of the best things God has given us! Because God could have made us to forget the event right after it happens but no he gave us memory so we are able to remember everything that we went through and experienced in life✔️

I agree! Definitely brings back memories instantly ❤️

As a pro Sax player, the song speaks to me. The tone, the structure, it’s haunting melody. Masterful sax work here

I’m a complete amateur and this song made me want to start playing sax. 😊

@Edward Pankov You misunderstood what I wrote. I was calling that person gullible for believing that the sax player wasn't paid becasue he was out of tune. I have no idea how you misunderstood

Edward Pankov

@taliwakka27 because there are nuances in tone, if it sounds good to the producer, they will move forward wit it regardless of what the musician make think a lot of the time. it does happen
