Somebody That I Used To Know
Gotye Lyrics

Now and then I think of when we were together
Like when you said you felt so happy you could die
Told myself that you were right for me
But felt so lonely in your company
But that was love and it's an ache I still remember

You can get addicted to a certain kind of sadness
Like resignation to the end, always the end
So when we found that we could not make sense
Well you said that we would still be friends
But I'll admit that I was glad it was over

But you didn't have to cut me off
Make out like it never happened and that we were nothing
And I don't even need your love
But you treat me like a stranger and that feels so rough
No, you didn't have to stoop so low
Have your friends collect your records and then change your number
I guess that I don't need that though
Now you're just somebody that I used to know
Now you're just somebody that I used to know
Now you're just somebody that I used to know

Now and then I think of all the times you screwed me over
But had me believing it was always something that I'd done
But I don't wanna live that way
Reading into every word you say
You said that you could let it go
And I wouldn't catch you hung up on somebody that you used to know

But you didn't have to cut me off
Make out like it never happened and that we were nothing
And I don't even need your love
But you treat me like a stranger and that feels so rough
No, you didn't have to stoop so low
Have your friends collect your records and then change your number
I guess that I don't need that though
Now you're just somebody that I used to know
Somebody (I used to know)
(Somebody) Now you're just somebody that I used to know
Somebody (I used to know)
(Somebody) Now you're just somebody that I used to know
I used to know, that I used to know, I used to know somebody

[Verse 1: Gotye]
Now and then I think of when we were together
Like when you said you felt so happy you could die
Told myself that you were right for me
But felt so lonely in your company
But that was love and it's an ache I still remember

[Verse 2: Gotye]
You can get addicted to a certain kind of sadness
Like resignation to the end, always the end
So when we found that we could not make sense
Well, you said that we would still be friends
But I'll admit that I was glad it was over

[Chorus: Gotye]
But you didn't have to cut me off
Make out like it never happened and that we were nothing
And I don't even need your love
But you treat me like a stranger and that feels so rough
No, you didn't have to stoop so low
Have your friends collect your records and then change your number
I guess that I don't need that though
Now you're just somebody that I used to know
Now you're just somebody that I used to know
Now you're just somebody that I used to know

[Verse 3: Kimbra]
Now and then I think of all the times you screwed me over
But had me believing it was always something that I'd done
But I don't wanna live that way
Reading into every word you say
You said that you could let it go
And I wouldn't catch you hung up on somebody that you used to know

[Chorus: Gotye]
But you didn't have to cut me off
Make out like it never happened and that we were nothing
And I don't even need your love
But you treat me like a stranger and that feels so rough
No, you didn't have to stoop so low
Have your friends collect your records and then change your number
I guess that I don't need that though
Now you're just somebody that I used to know

The Harsh Truth OUT THERE

@Nirmohi Azad The real reason singers became world wide pop stars and his solo career blow up was because of the freemasonry hand signs he show`d again and again. The 2 popular hand signs M J used often were 666 and devil horns.

In most cases the singer shows at least 4 hand signs and these are:
666
devil horns
one eye
tongue showing aka mocking.

The talent may be there, but the hand signs must be there. Thats how a soul becomes a “rich and famous” singer or actor.

@Kai-07 im sorry, but your mother gave you terrible advice. "Living in the present" will absolutely NOT bring you happiness! In fact, it can bring bring you a lifetime if unhappiness if you make the wrong decisions.

If you want to be happy, like truly happy, you need to live FOR the future. You need to consider what kind of a life you want, make a map of how your going to get there, and then work your bum off to achieve your goals. You need to stop focusing on the problems of the present because those problems disappear the day you gradute (most teens will disagree but every single adult will yell you... teenage problems literally disappear on grad day!). After you graduate, life gets better; you get to control your life 100% after that.... so, instead of thinking about the present, focus on the future, and decide what kind of a life you want. What kind of a person do you want to be?! Do you want to own a home?! (I assume you don't want to live with mom and dad forever); or maybe you want to travel the world instead of planting roots somewhere; either way, it'll take money. So, what career do you think you'll enjoy?!

The world is a harsh place, and it doesn't owe anybody anything. If you "live in the present" and make the wrong decisions... you can't ever take them back. If you get pregnant, you have to raise a child (and paying for rent, bills, food and pampers won't be easy with no education). If you do something illegal, it stays with your reputation, even if it gets removed from your record. If you try drugs, you'll become an addict (and prob a thief, and prob homeless). If you choose to hit the off button.... you can't take it back!

A teen may be "just a teen"... they can justify things with "im just a kid" or "im allowed a couple more years of nievity" but their choices effect them for the rest of their lives! Kids that are taught to "live for the present" won't have anything to look forward to when they catch their girlfriend kissing their best friend. They won't have anything to look forward to when they feel like they've been outed. They won't have anything to look forward to when everybody seen those pics.

Most of what I wrote here was for parents that may be reading this thread, or other teens (not necessarily you personally) and I wrote this out because I think it's important for everyone to think from a different perspective:
Teaching teens to "live in the present" is what costs alot of parents their children! The teenage years are the heckin worst! Any teen who's been taught to "live for the present" is livin on the edge! Teens need to be given something else to look forward to, the last thing they need to be taught to "live in the moment" when we all know how it is being a teenager. Teens need to feel in control of their own lives and futures. They need to know that life isn't always going to be high school, they need to know that life gets SOOOO much better, but at he same time they need to be fully aware that the choices they make while in high school will shape the rest of their lives and who they will ultimately become. Their long-term happiness relies on them making good choices and making solid plans for the future. Happiness is earned, it won't just land in your lap. Life will be melancholy (at best) if you let it, Kai! But if you dream big, work hard, and be the best you that you can be... I guarantee, you will find true (long-term) happiness!

You seem like a good kid, Kai! Work hard and you'll have an amazing life!
