Harry Moses Simeone (Newark, New Jersey, May 9, 1911 - February 22, 2005, New York City, United States) was a distinguished arranger, conductor and composer, best known for arranging the classic Christmas song The Little Drummer Boy, for which he received co-writing credit.

Sparked by his childhood passion for the Metropolitan Opera, Simeone sought a career as a concert pianist and eventually attended the Juilliard School of Music for three years before leaving to take work at CBS as an arranger for bandleader Fred Waring.

This is the only acceptable way for this venerable and beautiful song to be performed and sung. I sang in a Junior High Choir. This is the arrangement and version we sang... There is no other way to sing it.

I can still remember listening to this classic in our house during Christmas. I was 6 years old in the early 70’s and I can see the 45 turning on the hi fi. The record was gold and black with a 20th century label on it. I was mesmerize by the human drummer voices; I mean I was in a trance from the beginning of the song to the very end.

18 years ago(come mid November-December), I first heard this song in 2nd grade. We were doing our classwork while our teacher played this - including other old Christmas songs, like this - but I remember this, mostly - it's gorgeous.:) It was released the year after my mom was born(she was born in 1957).:) I love this version...it's the only version I'll ever listen to.:)

L.A., mid 1970s, late night on a freeway heading home with dad. Tacky Crown Victoria wagon, me 9 years old in the back seat (no seatbelts) and this song came on the radio. I instantly sat straight up mesmerized by this song. I sat frozen through the whole song almost wanting to weep on how beautiful it was. I dreamt about that song all night and for the rest of my life.

Growing up in the 1980's, this version was on my parent's "Christmas Through the Years" cassette tape. It was full of classic Christmas songs that had been part of radio broadcasts back in the 40's, 50's, & 60's. This song was on one of those cassettes and it's by far my favorite version of this song.
