Barracuda
Heart Lyrics

So this ain't the end, I saw you again, today
I had to turn my heart away
Smiled like the sun, kisses for everyone
And tales, it never fails

You lying so low in the weeds
I bet you gonna ambush me
You'd have me down, down, down, down on my knees
Now wouldn't you, barracuda? Oh

Back over time we were all trying for free
You met the porpoise and me, uh-huh
No right, no wrong you're selling a song, a name
Whisper game

And if the real thing don't do the trick
You better make up something quick
You gonna burn, burn, burn, burn, burn to the wick
Ooh, barracuda, oh yeah

"Sell me, sell you" the porpoise said
Dive down deep now to save my head, you
I think that you got the blues too

All that night and all the next
Swam without looking back
Made for the western pools, silly, silly fools

The real thing don't do the trick, no
You better make up something quick
You gonna burn, burn, burn, burn, burn it to the wick
Ohh, barra-barracuda, yeah

I hate to say it because respect the band and the sisters immensely..
But it's got to be said...
Whatever Ann was doing be it drugs or a multitude of things but it was working on them few early albums especially this one.
I mean look at Ann with her swagger her raw unabashed singing style...her stage presence. She was the ultimate pardon my french girl with balls far as vocals go.
What ever happened from this album up to say Animals must've been some heavy shit because she definitely lost that fire and charisma.
She never really dominated the stage again like she did on this album..
What ever happened definitely was detrimental to her prowess, presence, and all around self-esteem because she was never able to capture that vocal conviction again.
Don't get me wrong I love alot of their stuff after this....but it never held a candle to the fireball that she once was once lighting the stage on fire like on this video.
This incarnation of Ann was one aggressive in your face singer that had chops many women didn't possess that time in hard rock.
With the exception of patty smythe Janis Joplin and Pat Benatar.

Her vocals are seriously something you don’t really hear anymore. Just her natural vocal tone is amazing!

Dominique Roisin

Yes this voice is amazing

Haydon Crabb

No auto tuned here pure talent

GokuGoesSSJ69

I used to go to karaoke with women who were going to school to sing opera and they refused to do Heart songs because they were ridiculously hard.

Dick Johnson

Yup, now it's all auto tuned and screaming as loud as you can. Screw American idol for that crap.

Kenneth Burke

tight -- every element

What an incredible song. Still sounds great in 2022 and just shows that the 70’s and 80’s had some amazing lead female rock vocalists
