Mad About the Boy
Helen Forrest Lyrics

I'm mad about the boy
And I know it's stupid to be mad about the boy
I'm so ashamed of it but must admit the sleepless nights
I've had about the boy

On the silver screen
He melts my foolish heart in every single scene
Although I'm quite aware that here and there are traces of
The cad about the boy

Lord knows I'm not a fool-girl
I really shouldn't care
Lord knows I'm not a school-girl
In the flurry of her first affair

Will it ever cloy
This odd diversity of misery and joy
I'm feeling quite insane and young again
And all because I'm mad about the boy

Mad about the boy

Mad about the boy
I know it's stupid to be mad about the boy
I'm so ashamed of it but must admit the sleepless nights I've had
About the boy
On the silverscreen
He melts my foolish heart in every single scene
Although I'm quite aware that here and there are traces of the cad
About the boy
Lord knows I'm not a fool girl
I really shouldn't care
Lord knows I'm not a school girl
In the flurry of her first affair
Will it ever cloy
This odd diversity of misery and joy
I'm feeling quite insane and young again
And all because I'm mad about the boy
So if I could employ
A little magic that will finally destroy
This dream that pains me and enchains me
But I can't because I'm mad
I'm mad about the boy

Estoy loco por el chico
I'm mad about the boy

Y sé que es estúpido estar enojado por el chico
And I know it's stupid to be mad about the boy

Estoy tan avergonzado de eso, pero debo admitir las noches de insomnio
I'm so ashamed of it but must admit the sleepless nights

He tenido sobre el chico
I've had about the boy
En la pantalla plateada
On the silver screen

Derrite mi tonto corazón en cada escena
He melts my foolish heart in every single scene

Aunque soy bastante consciente de que aquí y allá hay rastros de
Although I'm quite aware that here and there are traces of

El canalla del chico
The cad about the boy
Dios sabe que no soy una chica tonta
Lord knows I'm not a fool-girl

Realmente no debería importarme
I really shouldn't care

Dios sabe que no soy una colegiala
Lord knows I'm not a school-girl

En la ráfaga de su primer romance
In the flurry of her first affair
¿Alguna vez será empalagoso?
Will it ever cloy

Esta extraña diversidad de miseria y alegría
This odd diversity of misery and joy

Me siento bastante loco y joven de nuevo
I'm feeling quite insane and young again

Y todo porque estoy loco por el chico
And all because I'm mad about the boy
Loco por el muchacho
Mad about the boy

I find this version more tuneful and structured than Dinah Washington's, I blame New Vegas.

According to all known laws of aviation

As a guy, this is one of those songs I feel weird about belting out when no one is home, "LORD KNOWS I'M NOT A SCHOOL GIRL!"

Trace Waldram

Well I mean you aren't a schoolgirl.

I personally thank the Fallout series for introducing me to new and wonderful music that I may not have heard elsewhere. So many more people are listening to these songs on account of it. You complain about all kids nowadays listening to Justin Bieber and the like, and you complain when we listen to music from 1949. Please. We both enjoy the same thing.. Besides, it's not like we could have caught it on the radio...

@Godin Minaar That’s more than fair, I’m glad your imagination is strong! I remember writing this. Still agree with it, though I’m a different man now. Go easy!

@Max Whitworth All true, though I LOVE the mood I get when I pretend I'm in the 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, and 80s(lol). How about that? A post from 8 years ago answered within 5 minutes!

Take care brother

@Godin Minaar My friend, people have and always will be people. We look backwards with bright eyes; the men of the 50’s felt the way you do now, looking back at the 1910’s or earlier as the ‘best’ time. Fifty years from now, OUR time will be the best time, when looked back upon. Enjoy where you are, it’s all you’ve got
