ION sendiri berarti "Instrument Of NewGeneration" yang diharapkan dengan nama ini ION mampu hadir menjadi generasi baru dalam dunia musik Indonesia.

Berdiri pada akhir tahun 2007, ION Mengawali karir mereka sebagai pemenang salah satu kompetisi band tingkat SMA se-Indonesia (Indomie Jingledare 2008). Dari situlah ION meneruskan karir mereka untuk terus bermain musik. Formasi ION sudah mengalami pergantian sejak pertama kali berdiri, namun visi dan misi ION untuk meramaikan dan merevolusikan dunia musik tanah air tidak berubah sejak pertama berdiri.

ION sendiri bercita-cita bisa memperdengarkan karya mereka ke seluruh pelosok tanah air dan memacu jutaan anak Indonesia untuk berani berkaya dan menunjukkannya pada dunia, Karna setiap karya memiliki semangat dan nilai seni yang patut dihargai.
