Ice Spice rose to prominence in late 2022 with her song "Munch (Feelin’ U)", which achieved viral popularity on TikTok. She followed it up with singles "Bikini Bottom" and "In Ha Mood", leading up to her debut EP, Like..? (2023). She achieved her first entry on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart with the Lil Tjay collaboration "Gangsta Boo". Her remix singles "Princess Diana" (with Nicki Minaj), "Boy's a Liar Pt. 2" (with PinkPantheress) and "Karma" (with Taylor Swift) peaked at numbers four, three and two, respectively, making Ice Spice the artist with the most Hot 100 top-five singles in 2023. In the same year, Gaston released the deluxe version of "Like..?" featuring four new tracks. Among them were "Deli," a track that gained virality after being previewed on TikTok, and "On The Radar - Bonus," an On The Radar freestyle performed on YouTube.

Music journalists have praised Ice Spice's relaxed rapping style as unique. Publications such as The New York Times and Billboard have dubbed her as "rap's new princess"; while Time described her as a "breakout star".
