The 14 track CD, entitled the Road to Escondido, was produced and recorded by the duo in August 2005 in California. The resulting music defies being labeled into any one category, but instead finds influence across the spectrum of blues, rock, country and folk. A hybrid sound that is unique musically, while still bearing the signature styles of Cale and Clapton recognized by fans around the world. The songs are warm and rich, with deep flowing rhythms, yet use an economy of words to express much.

J.J. Cale & Eric Clapton Lyrics
Danger, she's out into the night
Danger, she's such a pretty sight
She was treated so badly it seems
Now she's lookin' for a dream
Danger, she's out into the night
Danger, she walks the streets alone
Danger, all the boys she don't know
All the men, they look her way
Could be hers, hers today
Danger, she's out into the night
Walked into a love affair
Didn't seem going nowhere
With no choice, she thought she might
Now she took the rule right into the night
Danger, she walks the streets alone
All the boys she now knows
And all the men, who look her way
Could be hers today
Risk she'd take to find someone new
She don't know where or who
She wants to do, doin' it right
She's gone out into the night
Danger, she's out into the night
Danger, she's such a pretty sight
Danger, she's out into the night
Danger, she's such a pretty sight
Danger, she's out into the night
Danger, she's such a pretty sight

Danger
She's out into the night
Danger
She's such a pretty sight
She was treated so badly it seems
Now she's looking full of dreams
Danger
She's out into the night
Danger
She walks the streets alone
Danger
All above she now knows
All the men that look her way
Could be hers, hers today
Danger
She's out into the night
Locked into a love affair
Didn't seem to go nowhere
With no choice she thought she might
Rush out of the way and rowd into the night
Danger
She walks the streets alone
All above she now knows
All the men that look her way
Could be hers today
The risk you take, defines your moment
She don't know where, or whom
She wants to do, doing it right
She's going out, to the night
Danger
She's out into the night
Danger
She's such a pretty sight
Danger
She's out into the night
Danger
She's such a pretty sight
Danger
She's out into the night
Danger
She's such a pretty sight

I'm of the opinion this album contains some of Claptons best work. And I consider myself a pretty darn big Clapton fan. Not too surprising considering the accompaniment.

I'd forgotten just how awesome (and ear-wormish) this melody, the voices & lyrics are!
Listen to this in the morning and end up humming or singing it on/off all day long...
Thanks for this one.

This is an all time Clapton /Cale CLASSIC! I love listening and figuring out which lead belongs to who and the drumming and organ blow me away !! Wow!!!!! Never get tired of this one.

I am convinced that Billy Preston did a tribute to Dick Sims on this. There's One In Every Crowd is my favorite Clapton album, and that whole realm is what I specialize in.
This is also one of my absolute favorite Clapton tunes, and J.J. Cale has been there for me lifelong.

Sheer brilliance... listening to this brightens my day in what is essentially a very depressing world.
